Robert Pattinson is having quite a year, between high-profile roles in The Drama, The Odyssey, and the upcoming Dune: Part Three. But his best bet at a potential Oscar nomination is perhaps Primetime, in which he stars as Chris Hansen, host and creator of To Catch a Predator. The upcoming A24 movie, directed by Lance Oppenheim, covers the rise of the Dateline program that changed television — maybe not for the better.
Written by Ajon Singh and based on the article by Luke Dittrich, Primetime also stars Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers — the latter making her official acting debut with the film, taking a break from creating lyrical masterworks.
The new trailer irises in on Hansen’s determination to turn his show into a juggernaut, dancing with glee at the idea that his show could be bigger than the 2000s-era broadcast hit Lost. We also see Gisondo playing a young man hired to act as “bait” for the show, Wever serving as Hansen’s loyal lieutenant, and even a glimpse of a brunette Bridgers in character.
