Summary

  • Bentley has unveiled the Bentayga X Concept in Zell am See featuring a widened track and increased ride height for extreme terrain
  • The design study utilizes a 650 PS twin-turbo V8 engine and custom 22-inch Brixton wheels wrapped in large-aspect off-road tires
  • This debut coincides with the launch of a brand partnership with FAT International to celebrate global car culture and grassroots racing

Bentley is pushing the boundaries of the luxury SUV segment with the world premiere of the Bentayga X Concept at the FAT Ice Race in Zell am See. Developed as an experimental off-road study, the concept explores the potential for an even more focused, adventure-ready variant of the flagship model. Based on the performance-oriented Bentayga Speed, this unique build combines the brand’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with significant chassis modifications designed to dominate challenging environments while celebrating a new multi-year partnership with culture-driven brand FAT International.

The Bentayga X Concept presents a formidable stance, engineered for enhanced stability and ground clearance. The track width has been increased by 120 mm, while the ride height sits 55 mm higher than the standard production model, resulting in a wading depth of over 550 mm. To accommodate these adjustments, the wheel arches have been extended by 40 mm to house one-piece forged 22-inch wheels by Brixton, fitted with high-profile all-terrain rubber. These mechanical shifts transform the luxury cruiser into a legitimate expedition vehicle capable of navigating deep snow and rocky trails.

Functional exterior modifications further emphasize the concept’s utilitarian purpose. The roof is equipped with a dedicated storage system and four high-intensity spotlights for long-range visibility during off-road excursions. For its debut, the concept even showcased its cargo capacity by carrying an electric go-kart from the FAT Karting League. While the interior maintains Bentley’s hallmark refinement, the technical upgrades—including a titanium sports exhaust from Akrapovic and front-mounted twin towing eyes—underscore a newfound focus on rugged capability that could influence future Mulliner bespoke offerings.

Check out the concept’s debut above. The Bentley Bentayga X Concept will continue its tour at the upcoming FAT Ice Race in Big Sky, Montana, scheduled for late February.
