The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, on Thursday, said he was not in a position to regulate airfares for airlines. Sirika stated this when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Aviation to brief senators on the level of the sector’s preparedness to begin flight operations on July 8. He said, “Price is not in my hand but from what we put in place, I do not think that anything significant will happen to affect the propensity to fly.” The minister, however, said necessary protocols have been put in place to ensure social distancing within the airport premises and inside the aircraft. He said, “There is nothing like rush hour again. People have to stay safe before anything happens. “So I’m sure that as civil aviation we are responsible to ensure that everybody remains safe. Bishop warns conservation bill could rob eastern states of forest money

Bishop’s push faces long odds given the Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has already announced a late July vote on the legislation, which passed the Senate 73-25 in mid-June and enjoys the support of President Donald Trump. A companion House bill currently has 186 co-sponsors, including several dozen Republicans. At the heart of Bishop’s argument is a “conforming amendment” at the bottom of page 14 of the 16-page bill. The language removes a decades-old provision in the original 1964 LWCF Act mandating that “not more than 15 percent of the acreage added to the National Forest System pursuant to this section shall be west of the 100th meridian” unless specifically authorized by Congress. In theory, that means 85 percent of land acquisition should have been to the east of that line running from N...

Frank Lampard: West Ham loss shows why we aren’t contenders

Frank Lampard has said Wednesday’s loss to West Ham United is emblematic of Chelsea’s season. The Blues were downed 3-2 by the Premier League relegation battlers, a defeat which meant they missed the chance to moved into third. And speaking after the game, Lampard said the result was indicative of why his team were not challenging for the title. “It happens, it is the Premier League and if you make mistakes like we did, we dominated the game in terms of possession, but make mistakes and teams will hurt you,” said Lampard. “I’m not happy with any of the goals. You don’t get given victories for scoring two goals, you have to be better than that. “There were moments they counter-attacked, which we knew they would. There were details in the game which we knew but we lost because we didn’t get ...
