Prince Philip of Serbia suggests bringing Bitcoin into the classroom

Speaking to Cointelegraph over sandcastles at the Surfin’ Bitcoin 2022 event at Casino de Biarritz in France on Thursday, Prince Philip said he was “bullish on Bitcoin” in part because of the impact it could have on children’s education around the world. The prince, a self-described Bitcoin (BTC) maximalist, hinted that part of his keynote address at the crypto conference — only the second one for which he was a speaker — will focus on informing those in and out of the space of the potential benefits of Bitcoin. “Kids need to understand what Bitcoin is about,” said Prince Philip. “The main thing is the history of money — this is something that we weren’t taught in schools […] Education is getting worse as I can see it.” Citing an example from his own family, Prince Philip said his fo...

Lower costs, higher speeds after Ethereum’s Merge? Don’t count on it

As we approach the date of Ethereum’s Merge, users have speculated about what it will mean for projects and the wider ecosystem. Some argue the Merge will have little impact on gas fees and believe transaction speeds might improve. However, in general, most ordinary users will not notice much change. The real changes for average users will only be seen after the sharding mechanism is introduced six months later. The Merge will reduce energy consumption and increase security The Merge is a planned update to the Ethereum network scheduled for Sept. 15. It will move transaction validation from proof-of-work (PoW) to proof-of-stake (PoS). PoS has been part of Ethereum’s plans for many years, but the level of technical sophistication it requires has taken time to develop. It means a transition ...

ATOM price is reaching for the Cosmos, but why?

As a market crash takes place, assets become oversold and typically there’s an “oversold bounce,” “return to mean,” “mean reversion,” or some price snapback to the bottom of the pre-crash range.  Afterward, the asset under study either consolidates, continues the downtrend, or returns to the bullish uptrend if the downside catalyst was not significant enough to break the market structure. That’s all basic trading 101. This week Cosmos (ATOM) price appears to be following this path, and the altcoin is showing a bit of strength with a 35% gain since Aug. 22. But why? Depending on how you look at it, and technical analysis is by all means a subjective process, ATOM price is either in an ascending channel, or one could say a rounding bottom pattern is present with price close to breaking ...

US court gives Voyager green light to pay bonuses to key employees

A New York bankruptcy court has given embattled cryptocurrency brokerage Voyager Digital the green light to pay retention bonuses to key staff members. The firm filed a motion with the United States Bankruptcy Court on Aug. 2 seeking approval for its Key Employee Retention Plan (KERP) which entailed $1.9 million worth of payments to 38 key employees that have been identified as crucial to the exchange’s ongoing operation. According to court filings, an agreement was reached between Voyager and the committee of creditors to drop the opposition to the pro...
