“This concept is geared to a new generation,” says Quintana, who has worked with the Rivera family for eight years. “We wanted to create a story that kids would be able to understand easily and well. We thought, let’s bring the grandchildren into the picture to really convey that.” Quintana teamed up with the Costa Rica-based director and cinematographer once again after having worked with him on Rivera’s 2019 “Aparentemente Bien” music video. “We have great chemistry and since then we had been thinking what can we do that’s never been done before with Jenni for the next one?” Quintana remembers. “Once we decided that it would be animated, we reached out to a production company also based in Costa Rica that created Ric...

Becca Mancari Unveils New EP Juniata: Stream

Indie folk songwriter Becca Mancari has unveiled her new EP Juniata, out via Captured Tracks. Stream it below via Apple Music or Spotify. The project, which she announced last month, is her first collection of new material since her 2020 sophomore LP, The Greatest Part, which earned her Artist of the Month honors and placement on our best albums of 2020 list. That record was produced by Paramore’s Zac Farro, and it saw the Nashville-based singer-songwriter strike a fine balance between dusty indie-folk and brisk indie rock. This new offering slows things down quite a bit. The only brand new track on here is its lead single “Annie”, while the other three are acoustic renditions of The Greatest Part cuts “First Time”, “Bad Feeling”, and “Stay with Me”. The project is a great opport...

Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett Finally Release Score for Spike Jonze’s Her: Stream

Eight years after Spike Jonze’s Oscar-nominated movie Her hit theaters, Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett have finally released the accompanying original film score in its entirety. Stream it below via Apple Music and Spotify. A realistic sci-fi love story starring Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson, Her is undoubtedly one of the best films of the past decade, and a huge part of that is due to its original score. Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett used all sorts of gentle piano and stripped-down instrumentation to capture the sounds of falling in love, getting lost in technology, and feeling the vast difference between loneliness and belonging. It’s a gorgeous collection of songs and one that’s long overdue to be available as a standalone art form. For whatever reason, the score was nev...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Prince Williams / ATLPics.Net The pandemic of 2020 left many peoples pockets looking like rabbit ears due to lack or work and price gauging of essential supplies and though you’d expect entertainers to be well-off in such times, Waka Flocka was not one of them. I lost millions.” Well, when he characterizes his situation like that, Waka might be glad to know he probab...

Samaria Rice & Lisa Simpson Drop List of Demands Telling Activists Stop Profiting Off Black Pain

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Andrew Burton / Getty Samaria Rice and Lisa Simpson are making it perfectly loud and clear. They are not here for any of the activists and people they feel are making a buck off their dead sons’ names and Black pain. Earlier in the week, Rice took to Facebook to call out Tamika D. Mallory, calling her a clout chaser following her appearance during Lil Baby’s Grammy’s performance of his protest song “The Bigger Picture.” A very upset Rice also accused Mallory and others associated with the Black Lives Matter movement of profiting off their dead relatives. Now, Rice has teamed up with Lisa Simpson, the mother of Richard Risher, who was shot and killed after being accused of shooting at police officers to release a statement breaking down what exactly the tw...
