Dave East Unveils New Song “Mercedes Talk”: Stream

Dave East has elevated hustle to a religion. Since 2010 he’s dropped something like 16 mixtapes and albums, most recently 2020’s Karma 3. The veteran MC shows no signs of slowing down, opening 2021 with the new song “Mercedes Talk”. The track was produced by AraabMuzik. His beat eschews internal movement, building tension out of the contrast between a high chime and rumbling bass. East works over the top with a laid back flow, mixing the personal (“I still don’t feel like I’m famous/ Had to move up out the projects just to feel like I made it,”) with punchlines (“Headshot turn your thoughts into liquor.”) “Mercedes Talk” comes with a music video directed by WillC. It shows East on the street with his bros, outside a corner store, and behind the counter of a fast food joint. Oh, and th...

HDBeenDope Drops New Song “21 Bags”: Stream

HDBeenDope is building on the buzz from his 2020 album BrokeN Dreams with an arresting music video for his new song “21 Bags”. “21 Bags” quietly dropped on December 31st, at a time when the world was preoccupied with burning 2020 in effigy. The odd timing disguised a banging self-produced beat, over which HD unleashed half-a-dozen head-spinning flows. One of the things that makes him such an interesting MC is ability to switch between humility and braggadocio, hard truths and going hard. “21 Bags” is here to slap you upside the eardrums. He spits, “Parlayed all the hard days/ To the soirée with a ‘Yonce/ I need all lays for the bolognese/I got octane and they all blaze.” The new video was directed by Erikson Corneil. It shows HDBeenDope in what appears to be an enormous dance studio, ...

The Roots and Jimmy Fallon Perform Olivia Rodrigo‘s ‘Driver’s License’ as a Sea Shanty

Singing like a 19th-century pirate is one of the latest and oddest TikTok trends, and Jimmy Fallon and The Roots jumped on board (arggg) with their version of Olivia Rodrigo‘s viral hit “Driver’s License” in the style of a sea shanty. For the unfamiliar, a sea shanty is a traditional folk song once commonly sung as a work song to accompany rhythmical labor on board merchant sailing vessels. But you knew that. The Tonight Show host and his house band were in serious harmony on the song, which, in Rodrigo’s original form, has logged over 200 million listens on Spotify since it premiered on Jan. 8. Rodrigo recently spoke to SPIN about her “insane” success. The current shanty trend is credited to Nathan Evans, a 26-year-old postal worker and aspiring musician from Scotland.  On Dec.&...

Up in Smoke

He looks like a guy who’s done some time and knows a thing or two. One month out of jail, he wears aviators, sounds like De Niro and often mentions God. Who else could have pulled him through almost 32 years behind bars, shafted in the injust Florida prison system? His sentence was life imprisonment. His offense, smuggling marijuana. Incarcerated in 1989 at the age of 40, he’s now 71. His son was 11 when he was locked up, he’s now 43. They just spent their first Christmas together in 31 years. Richard DeLisi is out due to the Last Prisoner Project, who discovered his case from his family’s petition page, freedelisi.com, started by his son and nephew. He sits here today to talk with me, with his attorney Elizabeth Buchanan, who had to drive to him with her computer, so that we could speak v...

The lineup released the album’s first single, “Home,” the first new music in four years, in November. “I’m More Inclined” was written by Blake. “When we first starting talking about getting songs together for a new album, Norman said, ‘I have one ready to go now!’—and that was ‘I’m More Inclined,’” the band’s Raymond McGinle...

Dwyane Wade Floats Idea of Starting An OnlyFans Account With Gabrielle Union

Source: Edward Berthelot / Getty Are we really that interested in what goes down in D-Wade and Gabrielle Union’s bedroom? The retired baller thinks so. Throughout the pandemic, OnlyFans has been a saving grace for many giving those cooped up and uncontrollably horny some spank material while keeping some adult content creators financially stable during the pandemic. But like any wave, eventually, celebrities have to hop on it using it as a new tool to line up their already fat pockets while trying to connect with fans by sharing risque photos or, in the case of Cardi B share BTS footage of her and Megan Thee Stallion’s hit single “WAP.” Just recently, for whatever reason, Fat Joe and his buddy DJ Khaled decided to start an OnlyFans account, and now Miami Heat legend shared with his 9.3 mil...
