Former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman spoke to Guitar World about his guest appearance on “Imminent Threat”, the second single from the latest solo album of current MEGADETH axeman Kiko Loureiro, “Open Source”. “Kiko and I are bros,” Marty said. “He’s a good, good friend of mine. Whenever he comes to Japan, we hang out. I don’t think we’ve ever sat in a room together playing guitars, but I would certainly love to. He’s a super, super, super guitar player, and a super guy. So when he asked me to play on his thing, I jumped to it. I had no idea what he was going to come up with, but the song was really cool. So I did my thing with it and a good time was had by all.” Asked if he and Kiko ever trade MEGADETH war stories...

Combined with his energetic sound, the scenic mix is perfect for a wild night in lockdown or a much-needed jolt in the morning. Tchami packed ...

Guitarist Daniel “Chewy” Mongrain of Canadian metal innovators VOIVOD spoke to Antichrist Magazine about how he and his bandmates have been dealing with the coronavirus crisis. He said (see video below): “We’ve been home for a while, so we had time to all get on with our own lives separately, individually. And I think we can feel the positiveness, so to speak, out of it, because it’s good at the same time to be back home and to take care of each other’s life individually. But now it’s been a year almost since we’ve been on the road — we were on tour last year in December; it was the last tour we did — and we started to work pretty early on during the lockdown on new material. And we’re just back at it since a couple of weeks [ago], trad...

THE PRETTY RECKLESS singer Taylor Momsen told Paper about the track: “’25’ is one of the first songs we recorded, I think it was the first song we recorded for the album. I wrote that song when I was 25, [and] we recorded it right after I turned 25. It’s very autobiographical, in a lot of ways. I thought it would be an interesting idea to figure out a way to go through all the years of my l...

Showrunner of the Year Eric Kripke on The Boys: “We Should Always Be Punching Up”

Eric Kripke is anxious. It’s two days before Thanksgiving and the veteran showrunner is already hard at work on the third season of The Boys. He’s three episodes into scripting, things are moving, but something is gnawing at him from deep inside. “It’s become really fun and breezy to write again,” Kripke admits over Zoom. “That worries me. It’s feeling enjoyable. I should be in intense, deep introspection for this.” Kripke has every reason to be precarious. In less than a year, he’s given Amazon a critical and commercial smash, and they’re running with it. They gave the early green light for Season 3, and they’ve even commissioned a spinoff series. Opportunity is expanding right before Kripke’s eyes — and fast. Fortunately for him, Kripke thrives amidst this kind of aggressive expansion, s...
