PAUL STANLEY: ‘What Has This Country Become And How Did We Get Here?’

Paul Stanley has lamented the fact that businesses and retailers across the United States have begun boarding up their storefront windows and taking other security measures in anticipation of potential unrest on or around Election Day. High-end shopping areas of major cities — including Boston, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C. — are increasing security to deal with possible mayhem stemming from Tuesday’s election. The KISS frontman took to his Twitter earlier today (Monday, November 2) to write: “Stores and houses are boarding up for fear of violence and reprisals after Election Day?!?! What has this country become and how did we get here?? When did the coexistence and acceptance of differing opinions go from being the fabric of American democr...

BLACK VEIL BRIDES To Release ‘Scarlet Cross’ Single Next Week

BLACK VEIL BRIDES will release a new single, “Scarlet Cross”, on Friday, November 13. A preview clip is available below. The announcement of a new BLACK VEIL BRIDES song comes three months after guitarist Jeremy “Jinxx” Ferguson told Myglobalmind that he and his bandmates had been “writing up a storm” for the follow-up to 2018’s “Vale” album. He said: “I can’t talk too about what we envision for the next album, but we are revisiting the idea of another concept record like we did with [2013’s] ‘Wretched And Divine’. It would be fun to do another concept CD, but we’ll see how things pan out. Jake [Pitts, guitar] will be producing it, and we are tracking vocals and guitars at his studio. I’m record...

STONE SOUR’s CHRISTIAN MARTUCCI: ‘People Have A Really Warped Perception’ Of What It’s Like To Be In A Touring Rock Band

STONE SOUR guitarist Christian Martucci, who also plays in Corey Taylor‘s solo band and BLACK STAR RIDERS, spoke to Evan Rubinson and Josh Maloney of Dean Guitars about he has been dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. He said (see video below): “Well, when it first happened, everybody was freaking out, obviously. Everybody kind of thought it was only gonna be a few weeks of a lockdown and they’d get it under control, and, obviously, we’re still here several months later. “Corey, we weren’t supposed to record his [solo] album until he was done with the SLIPKNOT cycle, and once everything got canceled, he decided now is as good of a time as any to do it,” he continued. “So I’ve actually been busier, I think, in lockdown, than I was befo...

CHEAP TRICK Signs With BMG For New Album: ‘We’re Very Excited About It,’ Says ROBIN ZANDER

CHEAP TRICK singer Robin Zander says that fans won’t have to wait too long to hear new music from the band. “We have an album that’s already done and it’s ready to go,” he tells AXS TV‘s “At Home And Social With” (see video below). “It’s been put on hold because of the virus… We’re very excited about it. We signed a deal with BMG. And we’ll see what happens.” According to Robin, the new CHEAP TRICK LP will please the band’s longtime followers, including those who have supported the group since its inception nearly five decades ago. “We’ve made a lot of records, and we just continue making records — for ourselves mostly, but also for our immediate fans that still cling to us,” he says. Australian Breakbeat Legend Phil K Has Died

Phil K, a legendary DJ and producer who was revered for his contributions to the Australian breakbeat scene, has died at the age of 51. According to The Music, he revealed he had been diagnosed with bladder cancer back in February 2019. “Our community lost one of its finest yesterday,” reads a statement shared by the organizers of Rainbow Serpent Festival, a major dance music fest in Melbourne. “Phil K was a pioneer of the Australian electronic music scene, a Rainbow legend and, most important of all, a truly wonderful and kind person who will be sadly missed by so many. The entire Rainbow Serpent Festival crew would like to acknowledge his contribution to our scene, to music, to our lives and to send our condolences to his family and friends.” Cutting his teet...

House Music Legend Todd Terry Drops New Single “Jammin”

Todd Terry is still going strong. The seminal house music producer has unveiled his latest masterstroke, “Jammin,” a nostalgic number with a dusty analogue feel. “Jammin” taps back into Terry’s roots with its classic chords and breakbeat-influenced percussion. The sound design here is reminiscent of his pioneering contributions to house music in the 80s and 90s, when he helped bring the genre out of the underground and into the mainstream. Check out the track below. Terry, who is also revered for his sampling chops, flexed those muscles once again in “Jammin.” True to form, he gracefully interlaces hip-hop vocal samples throughout the arrangement, blending them with kinetic shakers and thumping kicks. “Jammin” by the ageless Todd T...

German Courts Rule That Techno Club Nights are Concerts

After reading the title of this article you may find yourself asking: “Why was this decided by a court?” or “What does this decision mean?” Well, the fact of the matter is that this distinction represents a major victory for German club operators and their patrons.  Under the old classification, club nights were not considered concerts in Germany. This meant that operators would have to pay 19% in taxes on ticket sales. Now, after being classified as concerts, they will only pay a 7% tax. It goes without saying why this is beneficial to the German nightlife industry and many have already begun celebrating the ruling.  The decision was made on the basis of whether or not the “average” club attendee is actually there for the music. Unsurprisingly...

Richie Hawtin on Income Equality in Dance Music: “We’re Trying to Fix a Problem That We’ve Lost Control of”

Fabled techno producer and music entrepreneur Richie Hawtin recently opened up about the lack of income equality between DJs and producers in dance music.  In a new interview with Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst for their “Interdependence” podcast, Hawtin delved into a number of timely issues in EDM, including crucial changes to the economic infrastructure of live DJ sets. “The driving force of this economic community is DJs. They are the ones making the money. They are the ones predominantly playing other people’s music,” Hawtin said. “We know that it’s not always going to the right people, and we know that now, after 30 years, there’s some other things that need to be put in place to assist this community from the past—where things we...

The Neighbourhood Score Best On-Demand Streaming Weeks Yet For ‘Sweater Weather’ & ‘Daddy Issues’

Meanwhile, a non-official single from the group’s back catalog — 2015’s “Daddy Issues” — has similarly seen its metrics rising every week. That’s also thanks to its popularity on TikTok, where videos using the transition to the song’s “go ahead and cry, little girl…” chorus have recently been omnipresent. Over the same timespan as mentioned for “Sweater Weather,” the song has risen from 2.4 million weekly on-demand streams in late August to 3.8 million this past week, a gain of 58%. Both the 5.0 million on-demand streams for “Sweater Weather” and the 3.8 million for “Daddy Issues” mark respective career highs for the two songs. The previous streaming high-water mark for “Sweater Weat...

Ariana Grande‘s lead single from her sixth album Positions debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week (dated Nov. 7), but which song should follow its success as the next single? Top Music Execs & Their Employees Aren’t Donating to the Same Political Candidates

“I don’t love that [Phil] supports all these right wing causes, but his political beliefs are so far detached from the work we do and our company values,” explains one high ranking executive, who notes that despite being very conservative, Anschutz supports LGBT causes and has given millions to groups some describe as being left of center. Employees at Liberty Media, which owns SiriusXM, Pandora and a 35% stake in Live Nation, for the first time ever have given more money to Democratic candidates than Republican ones. In 2020, individuals at the company gave $209,374 to Democrats and $92,485 to Republicans — more than a 2-1 margin. Back in 2016, Democrats only received $134,636 while $385,700 was spent on Republican candidates, while in 2012, only $12,500 was spent on Democrats with ...
