Sensorium Galaxy, a virtual platform built for concert experiences, has teamed up with tech company Mubert in order to manufacture an algorithmically-driven AI performing DJ named JAI:N. Kid Cudi Sampled a Tame Impala Track on New Album Cut, “Dive”

Kid Cudi shook the music world after announcing his latest album Man On The Moon III: The Chosen would drop this week. Upon pre-ordering the album, some fans noticed another familiar name in the production credits, Kevin Parker, perhaps better known to the world as Tame Impala.  With the album out in full, we now know Mr. Rager sampled Tame Impala’s “Love/Paranoia” for his track “Dive.” The original track was the penultimate cut on Tame Impala’s Grammy-nominated album, Currents.  Kid Cudi maintains the densely atmospheric textures and alternative-rock influence that graced the original, but flips the tone a full 360 degrees, yielding a particularly moody result. Stylistically, the sample choice aligns well with the rapper’s Man On Th...

ANGUS YOUNG Names AC/DC’s ‘Most Regrettable Song’

In a new interview with Vulture, Angus Young was asked to name the “most regrettable AC/DC song” of all time. He responded: “On our first album, ‘High Voltage’, we did a love song called ‘Love Song’. That was very different for us. I didn’t know if we were trying to parody love songs of the time, because Bon [Scott, the band’s then-vocalist] wrote the lyrics. I don’t even remember what the words are. I remember that song because the guy who worked for us at our record label told us that’s what was on the local radio at the time — very soft music. His thought we should release that song, because it’ll probably get some airplay. I remember thinking, ‘Who in their right mind would want this to go out?’ “...

CHINO MORENO’s Isolation-Themed Lyrics For DEFTONES’ ‘Ohms’ Album Were Written Before Pandemic

In a new interview with Full Metal Jackie‘s nationally syndicated radio show, DEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno was asked how the isolation during the coronavirus pandemic affected the lyrical approach and his singing on the band’s latest album, “Ohms”. He responded (hear audio below): “Honestly, a lot of the vocals were done before the end of 2019. I did go and I a few overdubs [this year], but lyrically, it really didn’t change much. “It’s weird, because, at the time, when I was recording or writing a lot of this stuff, which was pre-pandemic, or whatever, I myself felt like I was dealing with this sort of sense of isolation,” he explained. “I had been living out in the mountains for maybe a good five [to] six years. I moved straig...

Concert Review: Primus Pull Out Deep Cuts for Livestream Show

Setting the Stage: Ever since their inception, Primus have always been a “live band.” Sure, there’s no denying that such studio offerings as Frizzle Fry, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, and Pork Soda are ‘90s quirk-rock classics … but long-time fans can verify that the trio – singer/bassist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde, and drummer Tim Alexander – are best experienced in concert, as they most certainly take their songs to the next level onstage. So, with a proposed 2020 tour (that was to see the trio pay tribute to Rush’s 1977 prog classic A Farewell to Kings), scrapped due to COVID shutting down tours, it was announced that Primus’ lone show of the year – titled “Alive From Pachyderm Station” – would be streamed on December 11th, filmed at Claypool’s winery, Claypool Cellars, in Seba...
