Some words just send chills down your spine, and now more than ever, “Parasite” is one of them. That state of unease is found in AWAY‘s new single of the same name, which features the haunting vocals of Roniit and production help from Crywolf. It’s the type of track that oozes with raw emotion and will slowly infect the senses. “Parasite” seemingly speaks to that feeling when you see someone who you know is going to be trouble. It’s that internal monologue you have with yourself while you are being pulled in by this person. The glitched-out production paired with Roniit’s sinister muted screams creates a soundscape that feels cinematic. Finally, when they switch up the beat midway through, it would seem as if we’ve lost our pr...
The dangers of social media are no secret. It is becoming one of the leading contributing factors to depression, especially in young people, and its corrosive effects on self-confidence are unparalleled. Social media users are consistently fed language that conjures feelings of “worthlessness, guilt, helplessness, and self-hatred that characterize depression as manifested in everyday life,” according to the Special Interest Group on Computer–Human Interaction (SIGCHI). Famed electronic music producer Party Favor recently sat down with Miami-based radio show Millennial Girls to chat about a number of timely topics, including the pitfalls of social media use and the importance of having a voice. “Whether you like it or not, your voice does matter,”...
The year was 2014. Life was much less complicated and Deorro was sending fans into a tizzy with a sexy new ID. Six years later, that ID is out and it goes by “Beso.” The reasoning behind the release taking so long is a true comedy of errors. The esteemed producer shared on Twitter that he had lost the project file and managed to miraculously revive it, making this release that much more special. “i eventually found it on an old mac, that computer was nearly impossible to start up, i had to connect directly to the memory, but even that wasn’t working right,” Deorro wrote. “little by little i grabbed all the files and samples necessary to have what i needed to put it back together again.” “Beso” showcases Deorro’s signature, high-energy b...

Last month, Aesop Rock announced that he was releasing Spirit World Field Guide, his first new album in five years that also serves as a concept album that offered survival tips in a parallel universe (which feels right for 2020 and especially now). The veteran rapper has put out a trippy video for his latest track, “Pizza Alley,” which continues to build on that theme of disconnect and travels through Peru in search of…something. [embedded content] The clip was directed by Aesop’s longtime collaborator Rob Shaw, with illustrations coming from Justin “Coro” Kaufman. “If you are among the countless individuals who find themselves feeling both dead and alive at the same time, the information contained within may serve as an invaluable asset to your journey,” Aesop said of the album in a stat...
Benny the Butcher has uncorked his new album Burden of Proof. Scroll onwards to stream it through Apple Music and Spotify. Benny and his cousins Westside Gunn and Conway the Machine have spent the last half-decade slowly building up Griselda Records into an artistic powerhouse. The trio leveled up after 2019’s WWCD, and now 2020 has been the Year of Griselda: W.G. and Con have already released three albums with a fourth on the way, while Griselda associates Armani Caesar and Boldy James have put out excellent projects of their own. Burden of Proof is the latest bid for world domination, but it is sonically separate from the rest of the Griselda universe. While Mr. Gunn and Mr. Machine have favored throwback beats and collaborations with legends like DJ Premier and the W...

Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman left behind new legal will upon his death this past August. However, by marrying his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, in the months prior to his passing, Boseman ensured she would inherit his assets. According to TMZ, Boseman’s widow filed a probate case in Los Angeles on Thursday and requested the judge grant her limited authority over his estate. According to court documents reviewed by TMZ, the estate is estimated to be worth $938,500, though additional assets are thought to be held in separate private trusts. The docs also indicate that the actor is survived only by his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman. Much like the film star’s stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis, the public wasn’t aware of Boseman and Ledward’s marriage until Boseman’s death. No...
Source: Chip Somodevilla / Getty Donald Trump isn’t going to like this bit of surprise news. Joe Biden’s Town Hall over on ABC beat out the President’s Town Hall over on MSNBC, per early results. Considering the slow-moving train wreck that is all things Donald Trump, more eyes tuning in to the former Vice President seems like evidence of Cheeto fatigue. Reports The Wrap: On ABC, Biden drew 12.7 million viewers from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. On NBC alone, Trump got 10.4 million viewers in the same time slot. Including the full 9 o’clock hour for Biden, the ABC event’s viewership average was 12.2 million. Biden also beat Trump among adults 18-49, with a 2.6 rating to the president’s 1.7 rating. The numbers aren’t final due to a myriad of reasons. One in particular is that Trump’s was also simulcast ...
Source: @warrenlotas / Instagram For years custom sneaker artists have been taking some of the game’s most popular Nikes and Jordans and remixing them into some creative and interesting colorways, but one of them seems to have rubbed Nike the wrong way and is now facing a lawsuit thanks to his work. Highsnobiety is reporting that customizer Warren Lotas has just been sued by the sneaker giant just a few weeks after Lotas began selling some custom sneakers that bared a similar resemblance to Nike’s classic Jeff Staple Pigeon SB Dunks that made sneaker history when it dropped in 2005. Coming in the same colorway as the OG Pigeons, Warren’s remix featured the Nike swoosh with a Jason Vorhees mask and Jeff Staple’s signature pigeon on the heel just like the original. Though this isn’t Lotas’ f...
