Colin Kaepernick Alleges The NFL Is Blackballing Eric Reid As Well

Source: Brian Bahr / Getty Even though the NFL is trying to make amends with people of color, some have remained with permanent side-eye to all of their moves. Colin Kaepernick is now claiming that the league is still up to their old tricks. As spotted on Deadline the former quarterback is making sure to maintain high visibility during the first week of the 2020-2021 season. On Sunday [Sept. 13], the Cleveland, Ohio native alleged that the National Football League is keeping his former teammate off the field because of his stances against police brutality. As expected his tweet pulled no punches. “While the NFL runs propaganda about how they care about Black Life, they are still actively blackballing Eric Reid (@E_Reid35) for fighting for the Black community. Eric set 2 franchise records l...

You About To Lose Yo Job: Violent Police Officer Who Attacked Black Passenger Fired

Source: Boston Globe / Getty The Georgia police officer captured on video physically assaulting a Black passenger has been fired. According to published reports, the former unnamed officer has been fired from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office following the incident of excessive force. The termination comes after a video of the severe attack went viral, showing the victim, Roderick Walker, pleading with law enforcement to leave him alone, before getting smacked in the face by the unnamed officer who was in full uniform. The video later displays the officer putting his knee on the neck of Walker who was facedown on the pavement with his hands behind his back. The attack, which began as a traffic stop for a broken tail-light in which Walker and his cousin were passengers, left him with a sw...

DaBaby Has Proper Response When Asked To Donate To The Trump Campaign

Source: Kevin Winter/MTV VMAs 2020 / Getty While Kanye West and Tekashi 6ix9ine continue to show their unwavering support for Donald Trump and his racially divisive MAGA agenda, DaBaby peeps game and wants absolutely nothing to do with the orange white supremacist who seems to be doing everything in his power to start a new civil war to ensure he stays in power. A few days ago,  the Blame It on Baby rapper took to Instagram to post a picture of a spam text from the Trump campaign which was soliciting donations for the former business mogul’s 2020 campaign to which DaBaby simply responded, “F*CK YALL.” Mic. Dropped. Needless to say, the next message from the campaign was informing Baby that he’d been unsubscribed from any more messages. We figure someone got the message. Still, the Cha...

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard Drop New Song “Straws in the Wind”: Stream

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard showcase a sitar and a sense of humor on their new song and music video for “Straws in the Wind”. Listening to a fresh cut from the prolific Aussie rockers is like cracking open a Gumpian box of chocolate — it really does seem like anything is possible. For this song, led by bandmember Ambrose Kenny-Smith, King Gizz dips a toe into Beatles-esque psychedelia. Over discursive acoustic guitars and driving drums, Kenny-Smith sings out apocalyptic lyrics in a sweet tenor voice: “Straws in the wind. Is it all ending?” He adds. “Like a blunder brewing full to the brim. I can hear hells kitchen and they’re singing hymns.” Cook Craig cracks out the sitar, and Stu Mackenzie joins in with otherworldly flutes. The accompanying music video is a celebration of green sc...

Cheer Star Jerry Harris Accused of Sexual Misconduct

Cheer star Jerry Harris is currently under FBI investigation following accusations that he solicited sex and nude photos from minors. The TV personality refutes the claims. As USA Today reported, the FBI executed a search warrant at Harris’ home in Naperville, Illinois on Monday. The agency was tipped off by Harris’ former employer Varsity Brands, a large company heavily involved in various facets of the cheerleading industry. In a letter sent to police officials last month, Varsity said it was made aware of “inappropriate sexual conduct” allegations and felt obligated to report them. It has since terminated Harris’ employment. “As a result of the recent allegation, we have barred this person from having any affiliation with Varsity Brands or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates, now...

Brandi Carlile’s Cover of Tears for Fears’ “Mad World” Sums Up 2020: Watch

“I find it hard to tell you, `cause I find it hard to take/ When people run in circles, it’s a very very/ Mad world.” Yup, that sounds like 2020 alright, though it’s actually part of the enduring hook from Tears for Fears’ 1983 track “Mad World”. Turning the new wave classic into a stirring piano ballad is nothing new, but when Brandi Carlile delivered her rendition during a recent livestream, it felt more devastatingly relatable than ever. Carlile has often pulled out the song during concerts, but gave it a special weightiness during this latest virtual performance. She tucked it into the end of a full-album performance of her 2009 LP Give Up the Ghost on Sunday night. Accompanied by cellist Josh Neumann, Carlile played the haunting piano hymn and sang almost every note with an achingly d...

Rammstein Are in Studio Recording New Music: Report

With their tour plans on hold for 2020, Rammstein are reportedly back in the studio recording new music. While drummer Christoph Schneider reported back in June that the band had been working on material during the lockdown, it now appears Rammstein have returned to La Fabrique in France to begin tracking new music. The band previously recorded its 2019 untitled effort at the French studio. According to the reputable fan site Rammstein World, members of Rammstein and their recording engineers have been spotted in the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, where La Fabrique is located. Moreover, members of the band’s crew have posted about their trip to France on social media. As the fan site states, “There’s no longer any doubt: Rammstein are back at La Fabrique studios, where they recorded their latest ...

Brandi Carlile Takes on Tears for Fears’ ‘Mad World’

In a year full of malaise, a number of your favorite musicians have performed covers that have taken on an extra meaning. Brandi Carlile’s cover of Tears for Fears’ “Mad World” is the latest and is top-notch. Shared on her social media platforms, Carlile’s chilling take of the synthpop tune (one that she’s been performing live for quite some time), along with cellist Josh Neumann adds urgency to what’s already an angsty song. While in quarantine, Carlile has performed several virtual concerts from her Washington home. “It’s a mad world, but we’re in this together,” she said before signing off. “Vote.” If that’s not enough, Tears for Fears’ Curt Smith approved of this version, which he tweeted in response to seeing the video. Check it out below. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are l...

Maximo Park Share First New Music in Nearly Four Years

Maximo Park have released their first song in nearly four years. “Child of the Flatlands” “is an affectionate look at both the psychic and physical edgelands of the town where I grew up, punctuated by snapshots of modern Britain as viewed from a distant hillside,” Paul Smith said in a statement. He added, “It’s about the inevitability of nature (in all senses of the word) over the order we try to impose on it. The quiet, melancholy choruses lament the loss of community spaces for marginalised people, and the overall pace is meant to evoke a long walk, collaging found sound, strings and insistent piano to create a mildly psychedelic pop odyssey.” The band worked with Greg Hodgson to create a video that not only transports you to the time of analog. “We commissioned Greg Hodgson to reflect t...

Noel Gallagher Refuses to Wear a Mask in Public: ‘If I Get the Virus It’s on Me’

At a time when many people are wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Noel Gallagher refuses to do so, especially since it’s not a law. “Listen to me, it’s not a law,” the ex-Oasis songwriter told The Matt Morgan podcast. “There’s too many fucking liberties being taken away from us now.” The singer/songwriter recounted a trip to the supermarket where a shop employee told him to wear a mask. But since it wasn’t a law, Gallagher demanded to speak to a manager. “I don’t give a fuck,” he said. “I choose not to wear one and if I get the virus it’s on me, it’s not on anyone else. If every other cunt’s wearing a mask I’m not gonna catch it off them, and If I’ve got it then they’re not gonna catch it off me. I think it’s a piss take.” Gallagher further questioned why people need to wear ...

Lambchop Announce Covers EP TRIP

Lambchop is back. The group announced the release of a new covers EP titled TRIP that will be released in November. As part of the song selection for the six-song collection, each member got to select a single tune to tackle, and said member got to lead the studio session for their song. It was recorded last December. “My idea was to see what might happen if I removed myself from the process as much as possible,” Kurt Wagner said in a statement. The first song to emerge is a 13-minute cover of Wilco’s “Reservations,” as selected by drummer Matthew McCaughan. Here’s what he had to say about why he chose that song: I’d like to say that Wilco’s “Reservations” is a song I’ve always wanted to cover. But honestly, after a friend had mentioned it in a story, I had to go back and gi...

FEAR FACTORY’s DINO CAZARES Doesn’t Understand ‘Senseless Drama’ Surrounding Band’s Comeback Effort

FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares has once again defended his decision to launch a GoFundMe campaign to assist him with the production costs associated with the release of the band’s long-awaited new album. Last week, FEAR FACTORY singer Burton C. Bell, who has fronted the group since its inception, posted a message on his official Facebook and Instagram saying that he is “not part of” and isn’t “benefiting” from any GoFundMe campaign. He added the hashtag “#fearfactory”. This led to confusion among some of the FEAR FACTORY fans, especially since Dino had already indicated that Bell‘s lead vocals would be featured on the upcoming record. After issuing a statement on Friday clarifying his motives in asking for outside donations, Dino w...
