DJ and musician GDLK has been climbing the ranks within Denver’s bass music community and beyond with his genre-bending productions. Beyond just the music, however, he’s been hard at work bringing other elements into the fold. His latest album Catalyst and its accompanying video series combines music, alternate reality games (ARG), and hidden codes and cyphers to transport the listener into the GDLK story. After five years of throwing events in the Hollywood area dedicated to showcasing what’s new in the ever-evolving world of bass music, Space Yacht is officially launching a record label. The new division is a direct result of the organization’s efforts to continue championing underground talent even as live music shows presently remain on hold amid the pandemic. As life in quarantine set in, Space Yacht found new ways to engage with talent. Hotfire reminisces on his early years in music while paying tribute to his best friend with his new EP, Think Back. The producer has released his second EP of 2020 as an ode to his former Hotfire sidekick, Eric Yandall, who passed away last year. Hotfire’s latest effort leans into experimental bass house, stylistically taking himself back in time to the roots of his career, which were spent making tracks in the garage with Yandall without a care in the world. Social Distancing Ignored at Orlando Nightclub Show Featuring Ghastly
A show at Orlando’s Gilt Nightclub over the weekend is drawing the ire of the dance music community after footage from the event revealed a glaring disregard for social distancing. The concert, which featured Ghastly, occurred on Saturday, October 10th. The video below—shared by a Reddit user—shows a number of people in the crowd wearing masks while many are not. Social distancing, however, was largely ignored. Eddie Murphy’s Coming 2 America Emigrates to Amazon Prime for Christmas Release
Perhaps movie theaters in the Kingdom of Zamunda are open, but here in the States things are looking bleak. The lack of cinematic release options is the main reason why Eddie Murphy‘s new film Coming 2 America is emigrating from Paramount Pictures to Amazon Studios. The sequel to 1988’s Coming to America was originally slated to drop on August 7th, 2020, before going on standby until Christmas. Then the coronavirus happened, and blockbusters such as James Bond’s No Time to Die and Dune were pushed back to 2021. R.I.P. Conchata Ferrell, Two and a Half Men Co-Star Dies at 77
Conchata Ferrell, the veteran actress best known for her Emmy Award-nominated roles in Two and a Half Men and L.A. Law, has died at the age of 77. According to Deadline, Ferrell passed away Monday (October 12th) due to complications from a cardiac arrest. Ferrell portrayed Berta the Housekeeper on Two and a Half Men, appearing in a total of 212 episodes between 2003 and 2015. She was twice nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Support Actress — Comedy category. Prior to that, Ferrell received recognition for her recurring role as Attorney Susan Bloom on the sixth season of L.A. Those of you hoping to catch Adam Sandler’s Hubie Halloween, David Fincher’s Mank, or Volume 2 of Unsolved Mysteries are going to have to pony up the dollars, or borrow your mom and dad’s password. Earlier this month, Netflix ended its 30-day free trial offer for new customers. Manchester, Tenn. Mayor Lonnie Norman Has Died Of COVID-19 Complications
Source: City of Manchester / City Of Manchester Lonnie J. Norman, a longtime mayor of Manchester, a small town in Tennessee, has died from COVID-19 complications. Norman was just re-elected to a third term as mayor this past August but fell ill at the top of October. Local publication the Manchester Times reports that Norman passed away Monday (Oct. 12) after being hospitalized at the top of the month due to complaints related to the coronavirus.
