Taylor Swift Endorses a ‘The Last Great American Dynasty’ Film Starring Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds

Will Taylor Swift‘s “The Last Great American Dynasty” ever head to the big screen? Well, the casting director would have a head start on their job since Swift has already co-signed on the potential stars of the film. “The Last a Great American Dynasty would make an incredible movie,” Twitter user @TSlifestyle13 suggested earlier this week about the Folklore tune, written about Rebekah Harkness, the Rhode Island socialite who once owned Taylor Swift’s Watch Hill home. “The story is timeless yet unique, the music would be exquisite, and it already has the perfect title. As for the cast: Blake Lively (Rebekah), Ryan Reynolds (Bill), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (neighbor).” To his surprise, that tweet turned into an availability check for the all-s...

Wright’s sister, singer Darlene Love, confirmed the news of her passing with a statement posted on social media Saturday night (Sept. 12). “I’m in complete shock and so heartbroken by the sudden loss of my beautiful baby sister,” Love wrote on Facebook. “Please keep me and my family in your prayers during this very sad time for us.” “I didn’t just fall into The Honey Cone,” Wright said in an interview in 2019, speaking of her group with Carolyn Willis and Shelly Clark, formed in the late ’60s. “I dreamed of that. I watched Diana Ross. I watched Martha Reeves, and I s...

Flux Pavilion Teases New Track Rumored to Be from Upcoming Album

A little over a month after the release of his latest single, “Sink Your Teeth In” with Drowsy, Flux Pavilion is back with a teaser of his next tune. Flux took to Twitter to share a video with nothing but wave and speaker emojis and a brief look at what’s to come. In the short teaser clip, viewers can hear a portion of a still-unidentified vocalist’s tale of heartbreak. Although there’s just a little semblance of keys and drums in the snippet, the track seems to have the workings of another one of the dubstep trailblazer’s more melodic, vocal-filled classics. Both “Sink Your Teeth In” and the teased release are rumored to be featured on Flux Pavilion’s upcoming album. Earlier in the week, he detailed the record’s debut a...

Amazon Acquires Joe Exotic Series Starring Nicolas Cage

Amazon has nabbed the rights to the upcoming Joe Exotic TV series starring Nicolas Cage. The eight-episode series is being helmed by Dan Lagana, co-creator and showrunner of the Netflix mockumentary American Vandal. The story will focus on rise and fall of the eccentric zookeeper, who became an Internet sensation after being featured in the Netflix documentary Tiger King. He is currently serving 22 years in a federal prison after being found guilty of a murder-for-hire plot against his former rival, Carole Baskin, as well as for animal abuse. (Earlier this week, Joe Exotic formally petitioned Donald Trump for a pardon.) The origins of Lagana’s project actually pre-date Netflix’s Tiger King. CBS Television Studios optioned the series, based on a Texas Monthly&n...

Audrey Nuna Uncorks New Song “damn right”: Stream

Emerging singer/rapper Audrey Nuna has uncorked her new song “damn right”. This satirical stunt track is the first single from her forthcoming debut EP. Nuna grew up in New Jersey, releasing Instagram covers that eventually attracted the attention of manager/producer Anwar Sawyer. After high school, she split time writing with Sawyer and attending the prestigious Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU. But soon, her studies had to give way to the real thing. Now 21 years old and signed to Arista Records, Nuna has released a string of buzzworthy singles, of which “damn right” just might be the best. Producer Nate Donmoyer has built a thumper of a beat, but with delicate synth touches which keep the track from sounding overly serious. Nuna kicks off with a slurred, chest-banging flow...

The Flaming Lips Perform “God and the Policeman” in Giant Bubbles on Fallon: Watch

On Friday night, The Flaming Lips appeared remotely on Fallon for a performance of “God and the Policeman”. This standout song from their just-released album American Head originally boasted the clarion tones of Kacey Musgraves. Perhaps her schedule kept her away from The Lips’ studio, or maybe Petco ran out of hamster balls. It wasn’t a matter of social-distancing, because the Lips have been pioneering that long before it was necessary. Their trademark personal bubbles served them well once again, allowing them to get a little closer than would normally feel comfortable. While many recent late night performances feature bands near each other on stage, the Lips seem to be actually playing together. “God and the Policeman” is a meditation on guilt. The words are simple enough...

Song of the Week: James Blake Comforts Listeners with Frank Ocean’s “Godspeed”

Song of the Week breaks down and talks about the song we just can’t get out of our head each week. Find these songs and more on our Spotify New Sounds playlist. Cover songs often get a lot of shade thrown at them. That’s nothing new. Don’t we all get at least a little skeptical (and disappointed) when one of our favorite artists announces a covers album or drops a cover instead of an original single? While we may dig the song, it tends to feel like we’re being re-gifted something, and part of us might even suspect that the artist is holding out on us or, worse yet, has nothing else on creative tap. Of course, how quickly we forget that some of the best songs in our collective canon are cover versions and that all musicians (from The Beatles to those assholes who “practice” in your neighbor...
