Ex-AMON AMARTH drummer Fredrik Andersson has blasted his former bandmates for allegedly being “perfectly fine erasing” his 17-year stint with the group and preventing him from getting his “rightful share of the rights and publishing” to the AMON AMARTH recordings he appears on. Andersson was fired from AMON AMARTH in March 2015, just as the band was preparing to enter the studio to begin work on its 2016 album “Jomsviking”. AMON AMARTH opted to enlist a session drummer, Tobias Gustafsson (VOMITORY, CUT UP), during the recording sessions for the disc, but hired Jocke Wallgren to join them on the road. Wallgren was named a permanent member of AMON AMARTH in September 2016. Earlier today, Andersson took to his social to share screenshots of an e-mail exchan...
Corey Taylor says that SLIPKNOT is in the early stages of planning the follow-up to its latest album, “We Are Not Your Kind”, which came out last year. Speaking to “That Jamieson Show”, the singer said: “I was just talking to Clown [percussionist M. Shawn Crahan] the other day about what we should… ‘Cause we’re obviously thinking about what the next album could be like. And he’s in this trippy place, dude, which is rad. I love it when he’s in this crazy mindset, because I know I’m gonna hear stuff that I’ve never heard before. He’s so goddamn creative, and that inspires Jim [Root, guitar]. And all the tumblers really start to fall. So it’s pretty rad. I can’t wait.” “We Are Not Your Kind” ...
With our Track by Track feature, musicians lead fans by the ear through each song on their latest effort. Today, Sego introduce us to their Life of Pam EP. Sego have shared a new EP called Life with Pam in a unique fashion: as a single uncut 17-minute music video. Watch the visual to hear the whole thing below. The former Artist of the Month chose to release Life with Pam as a continuous block of music as opposed to broken into tracks to capture the “seamless, deliberate” structure of their live shows. The songs contained within this 17 minute track intentionally sit on adjacent lines to each other thematically, sonically, and in energy,” explained frontman Spencer Petersen. “Obviously, I hope people find connection with the individual parts, but like our shows, the collective sum cre...
The trend of nostalgic virtual reunions is being cranked up to 11, as the cast of This Is Spinal Tap is set to reunite for a benefit livestream supporting the Pennsylvania Democrats. Set to take place October 14th, the event will see Spinal Tap themselves — Christopher Guest (Nigel Tufnel), Michael McKean (David St. Hubbins), and Harry Shearer (Derek Smalls) — coming together with Rob Reiner (Marty DiBergi). Comedian Patton Oswalt will serve as the evening’s moderator. The event is being put on by the same folks behind the recent Princess Bride table read, which also featured Reiner and Oswalt. That partial reunion (Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Carol Kane, and Billy Crystal also took part) raised $4.25 million for Wisconsin Democrats. The Spinal Tap gang will hope to hit similar numbers for t...
Megan Thee Stallion used her Saturday Night Live debut to demand justice for Breonna Taylor and publicly rebuke Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron over his handling of Taylor’s murder case. Midway through her performance of “Savage”, Megan played audio of Malcolm X’s “Who Taught You To Hate?” speech in addition to recent comments made by activist Tamika Mallory, who accused Cameron of being “no different than the sellout negroes that sold our people into slavery.” Megan herself then proclaimed, “We need to protect our Black women and love our Black women, because at the end of the day, we need our Black women.”. At the end of the performance, Megan and her dancers raised their fists, and the message “Protect Black Women” was displayed on the video screens in the background. Last...
Saturday Night Live kicked off its 46th season with a cold opening parodying this week’s presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, with Jim Carrey making his debut as the former vice president. Appropriately, the cold opening began by acknowledging that Tuesday’s debate feels like “it was already one hundred days ago” (in the time since then, Trump has been hospitalized for coronavirus.) Even so, “We thought it was important to see it again since it might be the only presidential debate, and it was pretty fun to watch — as long as you don’t live in America” the narrator explained. Carrey walked on stage wearing Biden’s signature aviator glasses and with fingers guns a-blazin’. He then pulled out a tape measure to check distance between the two candidates’ podiums. ...
Aloe Blacc was a collaborative force behind one of Avicii‘s greatest hits, “Wake Me Up,” as well as “SOS” from the late EDM great’s posthumous album Tim. In a new interview with German publication Brigitte, the Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter was asked to recount his time spent with his late colleague and provided some intriguing insights. Aloe Blacc revealed that he learned of Avicii’s intent to extend “SOS” to him as a collaboration based on the legendary dance music producer’s notes. The written notes were discovered and kept by Avicii’s family and label. Aloe Blacc said he was honored to have the opportunity to help continue Avicii’s legacy, but described the recording process of “SOS”...
Kayzo is readying his team to hit the road this October with a two-night “Kayzo’s Doghouse” takeover event in Chandler, Arizona. The event, presented by Relentless Beats, will see the Welcome Records head honcho taking over the Rawhide Events Center in socially distanced fashion. Kayzo’s pack includes the axe-shredder Sullivan King and Tynan, who will be performing supporting sets on Friday, October 9th. Meanwhile, the following day will see “Hell On Earth” producer Yultron and Calcium making similarly ground-shaking appearances. The outdoor event intends to comply with CDC Guidelines for outdoor events by segmenting the grounds into pods. The spacious pods meant for dancing “like you haven’t danced in 6 months,” are cle...
Spotify is continuing to tweak its algorithm, this time with the addition of patented “nostalgia metrics.” According to a new US Patent & Trademark Office application, the Stockholm-based streaming giant intends to measure nostalgia through a combination of user and behavioral data. The patent describes a system whereby listeners will be served tracks they find nostalgic based on their assignment into backend demographic groups. Spotify determines the demographic of a user based on a variety of factors, including age, geographic location, and gender, among other criteria. With that data in mind, Spotify simultaneously begins identifying songs the user may find nostalgic based upon the year the song was released and the user’s listening history. The algorit...
