Maren Morris Delivers Powerful Political Statement on ‘Better Than We Found It’

Maren Morris is putting her feelings about current U.S. affairs into a powerful new song and she doesn’t care whom she may offend. On “Better Than We Found It,” Morris questions if history will look back kindly on how she rose —or didn’t— to the occasion. “When lines of tomorrow are drawn/Can I live with the side that I chose to be on?/Will we sit on our hands, do nothing about it?/Or will we leave this world better than we found it,” she sings in the song she co-wrote over the summer with Jessie Jo Dillon, Jimmy Robbins and Laura Veltz. [embedded content] “I wanted to write something to address exactly how I feel right now, and this came together pretty quickly,” said Morris in a statement. “It’s a protest song—it’s the most American thing...

Shawn Mendes Unleashes Explosive New Song & Video ‘Wonder’: Watch

His album of the same name is due Dec. 4. I wonder what it’s like for Shawn Mendes to have his explosive new song out in the world? The Canadian pop singer/songwriter unleashed the power ballad “Wonder” first thing Friday (Oct. 2), accompanied by an equally powerful Matty Peacock-directed video that sees Mendes standing atop a speeding train, interpretive-dancing in a forest and drenched by crashing waves. The brand-new song — which Mendes co-wrote and co-produced — is the title track from his upcoming fourth album, due Dec. 4. The chorus asks the yearning question “I wonder what it’s like to be loved by you?” and boasts a swooning, building production reminiscent of Kings of Leon or U2. When Mendes fans are able to pack shoulder-to-shoulder ...

Reunion Update: Did DJ Pauly D And Nikki Give Their Relationship A Real Shot At Love?

Nikki had always remained steadfast in her goal “to be” with DJ Pauly D on Double Shot at Love — after the awkward U-Turn first few days. But during the finale, the Jersey Shore star wondered if the duo — who met and fell for each other initially on Season 1 — was indeed ready to take it to the “next level” and confessed the only way to truly know was to just “do it.” Of course, their status update was an early topic on part 1 of the show’s reunion — and host Adrienne Bailon-Houghton inquired if they had stayed true to their previous statements post-Las Vegas adventure. “It’s an interesting question, and it’s a very deep question that I don’t even really know if I can answer right now,” Pauly D ...

Megan Thee Stallion Enlists Young Thug for New Single ‘Don’t Stop’

Megan Thee Stallion is ready for the weekend. Before taking center stage on Saturday for the Season 46 premiere of Saturday Night Live, she decided to give the hotties exactly what they asked for: a brand-new single. Meg’s latest track, “Don’t Stop” featuring Atlanta superstar Young Thug, hit streaming services on Friday night after a few days of teasing. The song, produced by Buddah Bless, opens with a punchy electronic beat followed by Meg hopping in right at the bass drop with her signature flow. Young Thug grabs a verse in there too, as the pair murder the beat, one which will certainly be blasting the bass in everyone’s car stereo systems this fall. The video is directed by Colin Tiley, who also helmed Meg and Cardi B’s “WAP.” The clip sees Meg hopping through diff...

Wallows Get Physical in ‘Virtual Aerobics’

At-home workouts may not always be motivating, but Wallows’ new single and video prove otherwise. The L.A. alt-rock trio dropped their latest single, “Virtual Aerobics,” on Friday as the second off their upcoming Remote EP. The uptempo track, produced by John DeBold, Sachi Diserafino, and Wallows themselves, hears the guys take a simple piano riff and build a melodic and poppy rock tune over it, perfect for any quarantine workout. And its video, choreographed by Pony Sweat’s Emilia Richeson-Valiente, has the guys partaking in their own “Virtual Aerobics.” The “Wii Fit” vibes certainly help. “Virtual Aerobics” track is Wallows’ latest since September’s “Nobody Gets Me (Like You),” while their new project will be the group’s third EP and fourth project, following the 2019 debut Not...

Robert Plant’s Absolute, Invaluable Journey

I’ve met Robert Plant four times. First as a punky grade-schooler, sitting cross-legged on my friend’s worn-out shag carpet, carefully slipping LPs out of their dust jackets for fear her older sister will wring our necks for touching her records. Houses of the Holy, Led Zeppelin IV, I, II. Aside from not leaving fingerprints on the pristine black vinyl, there were other rules, too. The music was best played as loud as possible, the lyrics must be memorized and analyzed—“a hedgerow is a row of shrubs…” — and, when we got old enough to have boyfriends, this would be the music we would totally make out to. Not a few years later as a preadolescent, I met Robert Plant again. This time, thanks to MTV. There was no way to make a cognitive connection between this man and the one who screeched abou...

Will PANTERA’s Pre-‘Cowboys From Hell’ Albums Ever Get Properly Reissued? Original Singer Weighs In

Former PANTERA singer Terrence Lee “Terry” Glaze says that he hopes the band’s early albums can receive a proper release one day. Glaze was the frontman of PANTERA during the band’s early’-’80s “party metal” phase and sang on the group’s first three LPs: “Metal Magic” (1983), “Projects In The Jungle” (1984) and “I Am the Night” (1985). After leaving PANTERA, Glaze formed the band LORD TRACY. Glaze discussed possibility of PANTERA‘s early albums being re-released during an appearance on the debut episode of “Drag The Waters: The Pantera Podcast”. Asked if he thinks the PANTERA records he sang on will ever be properly reissued, Terry said (hear audio below): “It would be amazing ...

Malignment – MONSTERWORKS

RATING: 8/10 Formed in New Zealand in the mid ’90s, but based in London since 2003, MONSTERWORKS are one of the best and most prolific bands you have never heard of. Unless, of course, you have. Unbelievably, particularly if this is your introduction to the band, this is their sixteenth full-length album, and it amounts to a superb entry point into a fascinating and largely unsung catalogue. Ostensibly, MONSTERWORKS are a progressive metal band, but they never sound like any other progressive metal band. Nor do they sound much like anyone else from any other metallic subgenre, such is their subtly skewed take on heavy music. The sprawling melodrama of opener “Impending Doom” should give newcomers the clearest indication of what to expect from the rest of “Malignment...
