Source: Blackberry / Blackberry In a world dominated by keyboard-less smartphones like Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy flagship devices, Blackberry refuses to get sucked in the cellphone abyss never to return. Let’s just call the Blackberry a zombie at this point because no matter how many times it gets killed, somehow, it finds new life. After 2018’s Blackberry Key 2 flopped very hard, we thought it the nostalgic smartphone was going to get sent off to greener pastures. BUT, once again, we were wrong. A new Texas startup called OnwardMobility is taking on the Blackberry license once optioned to Chinese phone manufacture TCL. It is promising to release a 5G model of Barack Obama’s favorite means of communication in 2021. Oh, and yes, it will still be powered by Android and will h...

Hulu is prepping for spooky season in September 2020. Next month, the streamer is unlocking a bunch of tricks and treats: Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left, Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead II, James Cameron’s The Terminator, and — get this — every single movie in the Twilight series. Vamps unite! Also exciting is the premiere of Keith Knight’s new irreverent comedy series Woke. The show follows a Black cartoonist whose career success is slightly derailed when an unexpected incident changes everything in his life. What’s more, Hulu is porting over all the goodies from FX. That includes the new season from Archer and the highly anticipated fourth season of Noah Hawley’s Fargo, which was postponed way, way back in April. Check out the full list below, pick up some Halloween candy, and, of course,...
Add Tywin Lannister to the list of those “disappointed” by Game of Thrones’ ending. In an interview with Pop Culture, actor Charles Dance was asked about remaking the final season, and said, “Well if there was a petition, I would sign it.” HBO’s beloved fantasy series ended in a controversy over quality — for cast and crew as well as audiences. It was such a divisive season that fans started a petition to remake the entire thing, a move series star Sophie Turner called “disrespectful.” An HBO boss rejected that petition, while Nikolaj Coster-Waldau argued that the 32 Emmy nominations “validate the writing.” Still, one GoT director said the series finale felt “really rushed,” and many viewers agree to this day: that fan petition has surpassed 1.8 million signatures. Dance seemed u...
Listen via Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Play | Stitcher | RSS “He said that wherever I went, he would find me, walk right up to me, and I wouldn’t be able to see him.” Leigh Whannell’s reimagining of The Invisible Man will likely be a high point in the horror genre for 2020. Tense and terrifying, it’s also a clever and timely depiction of intimate partner violence, a topic too often kept in the shadows. Continuing our two-part series on toxic and abusive relationships, this episode of Psychoanalysis examines the lasting effects of this kind of trauma, ways to support survivors, and the complicated nature of leaving. Fair warning that this episode goes to some heavy places as we discuss our own experiences, but, as always, we ground the conv...
This past January saw Dan Deacon drop his first album in four years, Mystic Familiar. The Baltimore-based musician is back now with his second project of 2020: his original score for HBO’s Well Groomed. Well Groomed is a documentary about the colorful and wonderfully absurd subculture of competitive dog grooming. The film premiered on HBO in late 2019, but today marks the official release of Deacon’s accompanying soundtrack. Much like the doc, the music is playful and fun in nature. Its 14 arrangements also find the electronic music producer Deacon expanding his sound palette by dabbling with more earthy and organic instrumentation. Previous collaborators like pianist M.C. Schmidt of Matmos, vibraphonist Rich O’Meara, and guitarist Steve Strohmeier assisted Deacon in creating the soni...
It’s been 10 long years since fans of Groove Armada have received a new album from the beloved duo, but Tom Findlay and Andy Cato have officially announced that one is on the way. The eleven-track Edge Of The Horizon LP will arrive on October 2nd but fear not—they’ve dropped a new single to hold you over in the meantime. They begin the voyage to Edge Of The Horizon with “Lover 4 Now,” featuring the godfather of UK garage, Todd Edwards. It’s a bright, funky track that transports back to an 80s Italo disco, where synthesizers reigned supreme. With inspiration from Hall & Oates and Prince, the production and vocals on the track are a certified dance party starter. The Grammy-nominated duo proves that they are still the leading comman...
On August 18, singer David Coverdale, guitarists Steve Vai and Adrian Vandenberg, bassist Rudy Sarzo and drummer Tommy Aldridge reunited — virtually — for the first time since they finished WHITESNAKE‘s “Slip Of The Tongue” world tour for a question-and-answer session prior to a live stream of the band’s legendary “Live At Donington” concert. You can now watch the discussion below. WHITESNAKE scored the band’s third consecutive platinum record with its eighth studio album, “Slip Of The Tongue”. Originally released in November 1989, it peaked at No. 10 on the U.K. and U.S. album charts thanks largely to its two Top 40 hits — “Fool For Your Loving” and “The Deeper The Love”. The fan favorite turned 30 last year and...
In a new interview with “That Jamieson Show”, TESTAMENT frontman Chuck Billy was asked if there are plans for the band to take part in any virtual performances amid the coronavirus pandemic. He responded (see video below): “Our problem is Alex [Skolnick, guitar] is in New York, Gene [Hoglan, drums] is down south [in San Diego], so just getting together, first of all, is probably gonna be difficult. We wanna do something together — kind of like METALLICA did; you get together and you jam. I think that would just be, for us, not only soothing to our soul, getting together and playing music again, but just hanging out with each other instead of doing it through Zoom or something like that. So we have some plans to do that. “When the [latest TESTAMENT] record [‘Ti...
On October 2, death metal veterans SIX FEET UNDER will release their 17th full-length album, “Nightmares Of The Decomposed”, via Metal Blade Records. The first single and album pre-order will be launched on September 1, but in the meantime, fans can already watch a studio video teaser for the LP below. Vocalist Chris Barnes comments: “Working again after 25 years writing an album with my old bandmate from CANNIBAL CORPSE, Jack Owen [guitar], was like coming home…To a room full of dead bodies. Jack‘s writing and riff work on this album gave me the fuel to write some disturbing lyrics and really set my creative mind on fire.” Comprised of 12 tracks, “Nightmares Of The Decomposed” is a defining statement, making it very clear that more than twen...
