NICLAS ENGELIN Says He Is Still A Member Of IN FLAMES

Guitarist Niclas Engelin, who has been sitting out IN FLAMES‘ tour dates for the past year and a half, was asked in a new interview with the “MetalBreak” podcast what his “future” with the band is. He responded (hear audio below), “I choose to pass on that [question],” before quickly adding, “I’m still in the band.” Engelin‘s replacement for IN FLAMES‘ live shows for most of 2019 and early 2020 has been former MEGADETH and current ACT OF DEFIANCE guitarist Chris Broderick. Engelin is not listed as a member of IN FLAMES on the band’s Facebook page (Broderick is), and he is not featured in any of IN FLAMES‘ current promotional photos from the group’s record label, Nuclear Blast. Back in April 2019, IN F...

Celebration Decay – Vicious Rumors

RATING: 8.5/10 A lot has happened over the last four years. Most of it, let’s be brutally honest, is probably best forgotten, including most of 2020. But one recent event that has obviously been extremely positive for all concerned is that VICIOUS RUMORS have found themselves a new singer and he’s an absolute beast. Even ignoring the thrillingly gung-ho performance that new boy Nick Courtney puts in across these 11 newly minted metal anthems, “Celebration Decay” would be an outright triumph. VICIOUS RUMORS have never been the flavor of the month or a band that most mainstream metal media would even acknowledge, but the truth is that these New Yorkers have long been one of the most consistent pure heavy metal bands around. “Concussion Protocol” (2016) was...

On Monday afternoon, Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan, Jr. were arrested in connection with the murder of Run-DMC DJ Jam Master Jay. Washington is currently in federal prison, serving time for a robbery. Jordan was arrested on Sunday (Aug. 16). Later on Monday evening, both Jam Master Jay’s (born Jason Mizell) former bandmate Darryl “DMC” McDaniels released a statement about the arrests. “Although this latest news opens up a lot of painful memories for all of us who knew and loved Jam Master Jay, I’m relieved to hear that 2 suspects have been arrested and charged with his murder. It’s been a difficult 18 years not having him around while knowing that his murderers were not yet indicted for this heinous crime. I commend NYPD, NYC Detectives, Federal Agents and all the law enforcement ...

Fans Drag Travis Scott After CyHi The Prynce ‘SICKO MODE’ Reference Track Leaks

Source: Kevin Rawls / Radio One Digital Continuing the tradition of 2020 exposés, Travis Scott is in the hot seat after rap fans learned one of the biggest hits off ASTROWORLD wasn’t penned from his creative genius.  Over the weekend, a Twitter user with low follower and tweet counts posted a very rough reference track snippet for “SICKO MODE,” Scott and Drake’s 2018 multi-platinum smash hit.  The caption claimed G.O.O.D. Music artist and songwriter CyHi The Prynce “singlehandedly wrote most of Travis Scott’s hit songs off of Astroworld.” Soon after, another snippet posted for “Coffee Bean.” HipHop-N-More did a little digging on “SICKO MODE” in Tidal and found 30 artists and composers credited on the song, include CyHi under his real name, Cydel Young. Anyone following the breadc...

Lizzo Sees Victory After Judge Sides With Her Over ‘Truth Hurts’ Lawsuit

Source: WENN/Avalon / WENN Lizzo is walking in her truth once again after a judge sided with her in court. According to published reports, a judge in the United States District Court Central District of California dismissed the countersuit against the “Cuz I Love You” singer after three individuals, Justin Raisen, Jeremiah Raisen, and Justin “Yves” Rothman, was seeking royalties from the song. Lizzo originally sued Justin Raisen, Jeremiah Raisen, and Yves Rothman in October 2019, seeking “a judicial declaration” that they “did not co-author ‘Truth Hurts,’ and have no right to co-own that work or to share in its profits.” The trio countersued in February, claiming the single was derived from a song with they worked on with Lizzo called “Healthy.” U.S. District Judge Dolly M. Gee sided with ...

Keeping the vibe on the R&B tip, Trey Songz too makes his comeback and in his clip to “Circles” woos a pretty young woman with a ride through hills in his drop-top whip. Check out the rest of today’s drops and some joints you might’ve missed over the weekend including wo...

Lewis Capaldi, Passed Over for a Grammy Nod for Best New Artist, Lands His 2nd Top 10 Hit on the Billboard Hot 100

Capaldi was also bypassed for a performance slot on the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards on Jan. 26. Lewis Capaldi is having the last laugh. Nearly nine months after the Scottish singer/songwriter was, surprisingly, passed over for a Grammy nod for best new artist, he lands his second top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Before You Go.” The song follows “Someone You Loved,” which led the chart for three nonconsecutive weeks last November—and received a Grammy nod for song of the year. (Capaldi co-wrote the ballad with Tom Barnes, Pete Kelleher, Benjamin Kohn and Sam Roman.) Nominations in the Big Four categories—album, record and song of the year plus best new artist—are determined by a nominations review committee which reviews the top 20 vote-getters of rank-and-file voting members. While ...

Rihanna Had the Funniest Reaction to Melania Trump’s Refusal to Hold the President’s Hand

Melania Trump has clearly been listening to some ANTI lately. The First Lady went viral on Monday (Aug. 17) after an awkward video surfaced of Melania refusing to hold President Donald Trump’s hand despite his multiple attempts. Rihanna couldn’t help but repost the clip soundtracked by her 2016 hit, “Needed Me,” which notably features the fitting chorus, “Didn’t they tell you that I was a savage?” “Melania likes art,” RiRi clapped in the caption, before adding that there are 78 days until the Nov. 3 election. See the post here.  The caption refers to Rihanna’s post over the weekend, where the singer and business mogul made her political opinions clear by sharing the spray-painted words “F— TRUMP” in a s...

Leon Bridges Hopes for a ‘Sweeter’ Future at 2020 Democratic National Convention

During the first night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention, Leon Bridges appeared to perform his single “Sweeter,” in honor of George Floyd and the countless other lives lost to racial profiling and police brutality. Perched on a rooftop overlooking a metropolitan area, Bridges and his band performed the mournful song, as the singer established his hope for a better feature through the moving lyrics. “Hoping for a life more sweeter, instead I’m just a story repeating,” he crooned. “Why do I fear with skin dark as night? Can’t feel peace with those judging eyes.” The performance came just after George Floyd’s brothers appeared to pay tribute to their late brother, and to call for justice and peace. “It’s up to us to carry on the f...

Maggie Rogers Stuns with ‘Back in My Body’ Performance at 2020 Democratic National Convention

During the first night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention, Maggie Rogers appeared to perform a special acoustic rendition of her song “Back in My Body.” Introduced by Maine’s Democratic nominee for Senate Sara Gideon, Rogers stood on the rocky coast of Maine dressed all in white, armed only with her guitar and a microphone for her performance. The song’s themes of standing up for yourself shone through, especially when Rogers sang in the chorus, “This time, I know I’m fighting.” As Rogers sang through her song, images and clips of essential workers and medical professionals in the age of coronavirus flashed onto the screen, underscoring one of the event’s central themes surrounding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and President Do...
