Source: GOOD HUMOR / Good Humor As the world continues to get woke we find that some of our fondest memories are now tarnished by the hand of bigotry. One producer is changing the narrative by adding his touch to it. For those not in the know, the instrumental jingle that is synonymous with ice cream trucks has some very hurtful origins. “Turkey in the Straw” was originally performed at minstrel shows by actors wearing blackface—specifically by a character named “Zip Coon.” It was then renamed “N*gger Love a Watermelon”—yes you read that correctly. While the RZA hasn’t made a big splash since his iconic battle versus DJ Premier he still has the magic touch when it comes to the arts. The Abbot has been enlisted by one of America’s most beloved brands to update a modern classic. Good Hu...
Source: Power 105 / Power 105 A few years ago when Machine Gun Kelly shocked the rap world and released a devastating diss track towards Eminem, it seemed like the Cleveland rapper was ready to establish himself as one of the hardest white rappers to ever step into the game. Now all this time later, MGK has decided to switch it up a bit and is carving out his own niche in a new music genre. In his latest visuals to “Concert For Aliens,” Machine Gun Kelly continues to roll with the rock-pop sound and goes from a game show host to a music performer for a crowd filled of Aliens. This the same man that handed Slim Shady the first L of his rap career, y’all. Back in the rap game, Blueface looks to have some fun in the sun and for his Trucarr assisted clip to “Outside (Remix)” take a gang of thi...
Source: Paul Middleton / Warner Music Guapdad 4000 doesn’t appear to be an artist concerned with fitting in with whatever works in today’s frenzied musical climate. In fact, the West Oakland superstar in the making has actually found his footing by defying every convention heaved upon him and that’s especially true with his latest release, Platinum Falcon Returns. Source: Paul Middleton / Warner Music Hip-Hop Wired had the privilege of speaking with the 28-year-old Bay Area native on the eve of the release of his latest EP, Platinum Falcon Returns, which is out Friday (August 14). While April’s The Plantium Falcon Tape Vol. 1 was well-received by way of Guapdad’s tongue-in-cheek cleverness and somber wit, he tells us that he’s aiming to do more with the Platinum Falcon series and expand th...

REZZ and Porter Robinson are a downright lethal duo, and when their sounds are alchemized into one, special things follow. Space Mom took to Twitter today to share a preview of an unreleased remix of Porter’s “Fellow Feeling,” sending her diehard fanbase into a frenzy in one fell swoop. The clip is short, but she teases the track’s drop, which strikes that sweet spot between hypnotic and nasty that she seems to produce so effortlessly. Ever since REZZ dropped a remix of Porter’s Worlds single “Divinity” back in November 2018, fans have been itching for another project between the two electronic superstars. However, at the time of writing, neither have divulged any further information about the “Fellow Feeling” remix, including an o...
DJ Snake sent shockwaves through the world when he dropped “Trust Nobody” in his hometown at Paris La Défense Arena, igniting a massive “wall of death” for the largest single-day EDM event in European history. The organized chaos of the mosh-pit echoed the high-octane energy of his hardest release to date. He’s now passing over the remix baton to fellow Frenchman Habstrakt, who somehow made it into even more of a behemoth. When an artist like Habstrakt says “I lost it on this remix, had to go HARD,” you know it’s time to buckle up. He transforms the track with a large dose of his signature frenetic bass house, cranking up the BPM to a degree that will have you opening up the pit in your own living room. Habstrakt&nbs...
Earlier in the month of August, deadmau5 announced that he was playing an intimate drive-in rave in Toronto. The popularity of drive-in shows during the COVID-19 epoch has grown tremendously and they are now a robust sub-sector of the live music industry, which was decimated by the impact of the virus. Following the announcement, the Grammy Award-nominated electronic music producer flung his diehard fanbase headfirst into a fever pitch. “hey Toronto, the boss has been chatting with the city mayor… and we’re happy to let you know we’ve got a small drive-in show booked in for Friday, August 14th!” he wrote at the time. Drive-in raves do, of course, come with many caveats in the name of public safety, so deadmau5’s City View Drive-In was under a very public microscope a...
Atlanta rap duo EarthGang make inventive, absurdist hip-hop songs that are not too dissimilar from the kind that fellow locals Outkast created. Now, like André 3000 and Big Boi before them, Olu and WowGr8 will contribute to the Madden video game franchise, as their new song “Powered Up” will be included on the Madden NFL 21 soundtrack. Madden NFL is the longest-running video game franchise in EA SPORTS’ history, and the company makes sure the soundtracks to these games are loaded with energetic songs to give you an extra boost to charge onwards. As the title suggests, “Powered Up” is perfectly designed to energize you as you pound the digital gridiron. The track distorts a squiggly synth line into a weird hook for EarthGang to rap atop. In the background, there’s lots of hazy electron...
Today brings the release of a new David Bowie live album. Entitled Something in the Air (Live Paris 99), the 15-track LP captures an October 14th, 1999 performance at the Elysée Montmarte in Paris, France. The concert was notable for a number of reasons. To start, it occurred on the same day Bowie was awarded the Commandeurs of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, France’s highest artistic honor. It was also one of only seven shows performed in support of Bowie’s 1999 album, Hours. As for the setlist, it saw Bowie dig deep into his back catalog and dust off several songs he hadn’t played in decades, including “Can’t Help Thinking About Me”, “Word on a Wing”, and “Drive-In Saturday”. The concert also featured the live debut of Bowie’s Hours track “Something in the Air...
These days, we all need to wear masks to keep ourselves and those around us safe. So if we have to cover our faces, we might as well be bold about it. Introducing our new line of lux face mask designs. There’s the Marble Mask, a minimalistic but striking naturalistic design that is as calming as it is beautiful. Next is the Galaxy Mask, a cosmic print that’s truly out of this world. Finally, there’s the Seven Treasures Mask, inspired by classic Japanese patterns meant to welcome happiness and prosperity — and we could all use a little of that right now. All the masks on the Consequence Store provide double-layered protection for enhanced filtration, with a comfortably snug fit to guard against light to moderate amounts of fluid, spray, and/or aerosols. Made in the USA from O...
You may think it’s a sign of our perpetually insane times that a member of the Trump administration somehow managed to kick up a feud with a cartoon character. Nevertheless, Trump’s Senior Legal Adviser, Jenna Ellis, recently tweeted that Democratic VP candidate Kamala Harris “sounds like Marge Simpson.” This prompted Marge, ever the consummate (albeit imaginary) professional, to issue a polite but cutting response, criticizing Ellis for resorting to name-calling, something she discourages in her young children, and for disrespecting suburban housewives. That might seem like the latest bizarre cut from the never-ending “greatest hits” of 2020. But The Simpsons, and Marge in particular, have long found themselves entangled with real life political figures, most of whom, like Ellis, underest...
