Anita “Lady A” White has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Lady A, the band formerly known as Lady Antebellum. According to the suit which was filed in U.S. District Court’s Western District of Washington and obtained by SPIN, White says she has “nationwide common law rights in the trademark LADY A in connection with music and entertainment services in the nature of musical performances.” She also says that her ownership of the Lady A name predates the band’s attempts to use it. Following the band’s name change and White pointing out that she uses the name professionally, the two parties had a conversation about the name’s usage and all seemed well. However, it wasn’t. Following the conversation, White claims there was no agreement reached over the band’s use of her name and t...

Source: Frazer Harrison / Getty Just when we thought Ray J and Princess Love’s tumultuous four-year marriage was back on track, the on-again-off-again couple is finding themselves racing to splitsville on Scoot-E-Bikes once again. Per TMZ, Brandy’s brother filed for divorce on Monday (Sept. 14), citing irreconcilable differences and is asking for joint custody of their children Melody Love (2-year-old) and Epik Ray (9 months). The petition comes just two months after Princess Love, who first sought separation in May, dismissed her own divorce filing when the pair decided to work things out over the summer. The “Wait A Minute” singer revealed in July that the couple found common ground during quarantine and were taking things day by day while co-parenting their children. “For us to al...

Now The Blast is reporting that the Tattle Tales rapper has been spotted shopping for a new multi-million residence in Upstate New York while accompanied by a team of security to make sure no harm comes to the government’s star informant. Without posting an exact location, the report states that the most hated k...
BTS may not be able to go on a world tour right now due to coronavirus, but that won’t stop them from connecting with fans worldwide. The record-breaking K-pop stars and Netmarble have just released the trailer for BTS Universe Story, a brand new video game that stars all seven members of the South Korean group, which will be available to play around the globe. Don’t mistake BTS Universe Story as a follow-up to their 2019 mobile game BTS World. Instead, this is an “interactive social game” that plays out like a totally fresh RPG. By following the main objective, fans can participate in a pre-determined plot where each choice impacts later gameplay. However, the game also boasts additional modes, such as “Story Creation”, where users can form an in-game story from scratch, and “Collection”,...

Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction Celebrities have been sharing their skills with the world as the coronavirus pandemic forces millions to quarantine. From Dolly Parton offering weekly bedtime stories for children to the Obamas hosting a star-studded virtual graduation ceremony, we thought we’d seen it all. Leave it to Samuel L. Jackson to shake things up with arguably the most on-brand contribution of all: swearing lessons. On Monday, Jackson promised that he would teach fans how to swear in 15 different languages if at least 2,500 people go to his HeadCount site and register to vote (or double check their registrations are set up). The Pitch: The elevator pitch for Antebellum was probably quite simple: Veronica Henley is an enslaved woman on a cruel plantation and must stay silent until she can find the perfect moment to escape. But there’s a twist: It’s a story about the Antebellum South, updated for modern audiences and designed to speak to the present moment. While this sounds great on paper, all of these elements culminate into a forced, muddled mess that’s less than the sum of its parts. It’s not that Antebellum is bad — there are many things it does well — it’s just trying so hard to be the perfect movie for this moment in time. Because of this, the film winds up losing control of its message. The Past Is Present: Antebellum is trying to make a commentary on white obsession with Southern “heritage.” It’s trying...

“We are in the middle of a revolution right? What’s a revolution without a song and a song without a revolution.” That’s the question the Grammy-winning artist Janelle Monáe posed to Entertainment Weekly when describing her latest single, “Turntables.” The song was released on and flips between cleverly rapped lines about “liberation, elevation, education” and a harmonic refrain with clear gospel influences. It’s Monáe’s take on a contemporary protest song, a call for a political sea change, in the vein of, say, Billie Holiday’s “Strange Fruit” or Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power.” Courtesy of Atlantic Records And on Tuesday (September), Monáe released a moving music video — or, as ...
