Kaskade and Project 46 Drop Hypnotic “Chilled” Version of “Chains”
Back in May 2020, Kaskade and Project 46 reunited for “Chains,” dropping a nostalgic progressive house anthem reminiscent of their larger-than-life 2013 collaboration “Last Chance.” Harnessing the soaring sound of “Chains,” Kaskade has now manifested it into a new “Chilled” version that arrived by way of his own Arkade banner on September 10th. Following the release of his first-ever ambient album MMXX, Diplo partnered with The Smithsonian‘s AirSpace podcast for a series of one-of-a-kind, limited capacity stargazing concerts. Debuting the series on September 8th and 9th, he played out the record at the “Under Ancient Skies: A Night of Ambient Music and Stargazing” show in Pioneertown for his fans, who were able to melt away under the glittering California night sky. Fresh off the announcement of the enormous lineup for his virtual edition of Lost Lands, what more could Excision possibly have in store for us? The dubstep fan-favorite took to social media today to post a cryptic countdown timer, sharing nothing but the equally mysterious caption, “Coming Soon,” as well as a link to a website with a timer. The website simply reads, “Coming soon from the Excision team,” which doesn’t help fans one iota in their mission to figure out what he has planned. Messina Judas Priest have announced that they are headlining and curating the new Warlando Festival set for September 11th, 2021 at the Orlando Amphitheater in Florida. The band shared the news on its Facebook page, but offered up few details except for the event’s poster, which features the initial lineup: Judas Priest, Sabaton, Lacuna Coil, Soulfly, Mushroomhead, and Uncured. Judas Priest were supposed to co-headline the Rebel Rock Festival with Limp Bizkit this month in Orlando. With that fest postponed to next year due to the pandemic, it appears Judas Priest took matters into their own hands, creating their own Florida festival. Earlier this summer, New York City collective MICHELLE returned with “Sunrise”, their first single since 2018. Today, the R&B-inspired group of mostly queer PoC are releasing an alternate version of that song featuring new contributions from British poet and bedroom pop artist Arlo Parks. Vinyl Outsells CDs for the First Time Since the Mid-’80s
A new report from the RIAA (Record Industry Association of America) found that vinyl album revenues of $232 million accounted for 62% of total physical revenues (CDs, vinyl), marking the first time vinyl exceeded CD sales since the mid-1980s. By comparison, $129.9 million was spent on compact discs. That said, vinyl sales still only accounted for 4% of total recorded music revenues.
