The Go Go’s have returned with their first new song in 20 years. Entitled “Club Zero”, the song’s release coincides with a new documentary on the band premiering on Showtime on August 1st. “Club Zero” was created via email amongst the band’s members and recorded at Lucky Recording in San Francisco and Los Angeles, according to a press release, which adds: “As the band’s stance has always been fervent when it comes to relevant issues, the anthemic, punk-infused paean arrives just in time for a world in desperate need of a voice of optimism and change.” The documentary, simply titled The Go-Go’s, was directed by Alison Ellwood, who was given full access to the band and its archive. Mastodon Unleash New Song “Fallen Torches”, Announce Medium Rarities Collection: Stream

Mastodon have unveiled the new song “Fallen Torches”, featuring frequent collaborator Scott Kelly of Neurosis. The track will appear on the newly announced career-spanning compilation Medium Rarities, which collects instrumentals, one-off singles, live tracks, cover tunes, and other obscurities. Medium Rarities, due September 11th, is the ultimate tide-over for fans eagerly awaiting Mastodon’s highly anticipated eighth studio album, which is now slated to arrive sometime in 2021. “Fallen Torches”, an uptempo track with heavy verses and a melodic chorus, was originally planned for release in support of the band’s 2019 European tour; however, Mastodon’s attention was diverted from completing the track by a worthy cause. “This classic Mastodon track [“Fallen Torches”] was recorded in Atlanta ...

Billie Eilish Finds Her Personal Power On ‘My Future’

After the breakout success of her debut album When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Billie Eilish, then a talented newcomer whose delightfully disheveled dye job and slime green style were seemingly at odds with the serene vocals she delivered, was solidified as a star on the rise. Yet, despite her laissez-faire attitude towards press and accolades, she’s become something of an awards show darling, becoming the youngest artist, at 18, to sweep the big four Grammys in January. And on Thurday (July 30), she was nominated for six VMAs, including Video of the Year and Song of the Year. That same day, independent of the announcement, Eilish dropped “My Future,” her first release since “No Time to Die,” the theme to the now-de...

Lastlings Get the RÜFÜS DU SOL Remix Treatment on “No Time”

Australian electronic pop musicians and siblings Lastlings made waves in 2018 with their signing to the Rose Avenue imprint, headed by Australian superstar trio RÜFÜS DU SOL. RÜFÜS had the pair along for their “SOLACE World Tour” last year and have now given Lastlings the remix treatment.  “No Time (RÜFÜS DU SOL Remix)” is a dreamy house offering from the powerhouse electronica group. The original track was already a deep, progressive earworm, and RÜFÜS capitalize on that sound by kicking things up with both the tempo and composition. While the original has a deep and danceable yet chilled-out feel to it, the remix explores those euphoric and sporadic synths even further with a drawn out, atmospheric breakdown and buildup. The...

Tiësto to Elon Musk: “Shall We Put a Drive-In Party Together for Everyone Who Drives a Tesla?”

Earlier in the month of July, eccentric tech billionaire Elon Musk unveiled 3D renderings of his new Giga Factory in Berlin, Germany. Musk, who has also dipped his toes in electronic music production via a house track called “Don’t Doubt Ur Vibe,” wrote at the time that the rooftop may double as a “rave space,” adding, “Might be an indoor/outdoor rave space on the roof,” in a tweet. After another typically incendiary tweet from the Tesla boss today, June 30th, in which he wrote that he “sure could use a good rave,” legendary DJ and producer Tiësto jumped in with his own solution. “Shall we put a drive-in party together for everyone who drives a Tesla ?” he posed. Considering the horsepower and means behin...

Gryffin and John Martin Join Forces for Dream Collaboration, “Cry”

Just a few days after announcing his “first record of the next chapter,” renowned future bass and dance pop producer Gryffin has dropped the curtain, unveiling his new single “Cry” with John Martin. On July 28th, 2020, Gryffin tweeted that he started work on the track “with the intention of making a timeless dance record.” There is perhaps no collaborator more suitable for such an ambition than Martin, the iconic voice beyond a bevy of the most inescapable songs in electronic dance music, like Swedish House Mafia‘s “Save The World” and “Don’t You Worry Child.” “Cry” is a scintillating future pop record that tugs at the heartstrings through Martin’s poignant vocal effort. If Gryffin’s sentim...
