The organizers behind Romania’s biggest music festivals, Untold Festival and Neversea, are offering an attractive incentive for donating blood plasma—free festival tickets. The donation campaign, titled Blood Network, is a partnership between the festival and supermarket chain Kaufland Romania. The limited time offer is being extended specifically to recently recovered COVID-19 patients. Plasma from patients cured of the virus is highly sought after due to the presence of antibodies, which could help sick patients find the path to recovery. Donors through Blood Network will be rewarded with a free one-day pass to the 2021 edition of either Untold or Neversea. Donors will also receive a supermarket voucher of 100 lei for their efforts. “The medical system is curre...
Excision and Wooli are throwing fuel on the flames of their massive 2019 Evolution EP with a sizable helping of brand new remixes. Of course, we’re talking about two producers who are known for doing it big. The two brought together a roster of bass music’s finest to craft Evolution (The Remixes), and the final product exceeds the already lofty expectations. It was hard to imagine where producers could take the already uninhibited opening track “Lockdown,” but Kompany, Hairitage, and MadReckless stepped up to the challenge. Kompany and Hairitage leaned into their affinity for distortion, escalating the gritty, bass-driven energy to new heights while MadReckless sounds the alarm with a soaring, siren-like lead on his remix. The EP’s se...
While we still have to wait for the release of DSV Audio‘s new charity compilation album Rebirth, the label has treated us to a premiere of one of its hardest-hitting tunes. Available for your head-banging pleasure is the latest from BAINBRIDGE, “Skull Busta.” Fans of the rising bass producer know well what chaos he can deliver. Distorted vocal samples give way to ominous, repeating synths before raising hell with a mosh-pit-inducing bass drop. With only brief moments for listeners to catch their breath, BAINBRIDGE continues to pummel your speakers on his latest high-energy track. DSV Audio has announced that 50% of proceeds from Rebirth will be donated to the mental health organization SANE. In addition to the album proceeds, they have started a fund...
Jeff Scott Soto says it “stinks” to see JOURNEY not acknowledging the time he spent fronting the band. Soto, who previously sang with Yngwie Malmsteen, joined JOURNEY about a week and half into a six-week summer 2006 tour with DEF LEPPARD, after Steve Augeri began having vocal issues. Soto had earlier worked with JOURNEY guitarist Neal Schon and drummer Deen Castronovo in the short-lived side project SOUL SIRKUS. JOURNEY named Soto its permanent lead singer in December 2016 before firing him just five months later. Asked in a new interview with the “Rehired” Internet show (hosted by Fran Strine and Peter Clarke) how he found out his services were no longer needed by JOURNEY, Soto said (see video below): “It was a call from management, basically. And they were ...
3 DOORS DOWN frontman and celebrated songwriter Brad Arnold was preparing earlier this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band’s 2000 debut album, the certified seven-times RIAA platinum “The Better Life”. But with the pandemic putting the Grammy Award-nominated Mississippi rock band’s plans on hold, Brad has used the quarantine to write and record his first solo record, “Wicked Man”. This powerful song was released last Friday (August 14) on his new Wild At Heart label. You can now watch the lyric video for the track below. Brad was inspired to write “Wicked Man” about the times we are living in. With his instantly distinctive vocals, Brad unflinchingly sings: “They keep us entertained inside a world before our eyes/A never-...
THE PRETTY RECKLESS singer Taylor Momsen spoke to Forbes about the band’s decision to hold off on releasing its new album, “Death By Rock And Roll”, until 2021. “We talked about holding the song ‘Death By Rock And Roll’ for longer too, and I was, like, ‘I can’t do this. I can’t just sit on this album forever,'” she said. “The world needs music and music has such a healing thing to it, and it saved my life, time and time again. “If we put out a song and if it can put a smile on some people’s faces, great; we’ll take it from there. That’s kind of what we’re doing — we’re riding the wave. “This is just such an unprecedented time, so we’re trying to take it step by step, and see wh...
Last week, EVANESCENCE released a new single, “Use My Voice”, which was written to celebrate the power of speaking out in order to promote more justice in the world. The track, featuring contributions from THE PRETTY RECKLESS‘s Taylor Momsen and HALESTORM‘s Lzzy Hale, was chosen by HeadCount in the USA to encourage voters to register, check their registration, or find out about their remote voting options amid the COVID-19 pandemic at UseMyVoice.org. “That song has been bubbling in the background for me for a couple of years,” EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee told Billboard. “I’ve never really… spoken politically, or made any real statement about what I believe and what’s going on, because I don’t like to divide the fans. I want t...
Fiona Apple has narrated a new short film about how to document Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests you believe may be unlawful. The film, titled We Have Rights: When Documenting ICE Arrests, is part of a series of animated shorts created in partnership with We Have Rights, Brooklyn Defender Services, and WITNESS to help inform the general public about how to hold ICE accountable while protecting the safety of the individual being arrested. This news is pretty on par for Apple considering she’s a regular activist, from marching in Black Lives Matter protests to donating her royalties to help out refugees and detained migrants. In an interview with Vulture, which originally reported the story, the singer-songwriter explained why she accepted the opportunity, calling the video ...
“Harrison Ford” and “Billy Dee Williams” in Solo: A Star Wars Story, image via YouTube/Shamook Deepfake technologies have become increasingly common, and while their applications are almost entirely evil, every once in a while a person uses those programs for something trivial and fun. So it is with this latest deepfake by YouTuber Shamook, which answers the question: What if young Harrison Ford had played young Han Solo in the 2018 prequel Solo: A Star Wars Story? To be fair, it’s more of a partial answer. As creator Shamook acknowledges in a pinned note, the technology of faking voices is “still a way off from sounding really good.” So instead we get prequel actor Alden Ehrenreich’s voice coming from a de-aged Harrison Ford’s smirking lips. The video is only two m...
After more than a decade, Britney Spears is seeking to permanently break free from her father’s conservatorship. According to documents filed on Tuesday, the pop star officially asked the court to not allow her father, James Spears, to regain control over her life. From 2008 to 2019, James oversaw nearly every major aspect of his daughter’s existence — from personal matters like her relationships and health to financial affairs related to her career. The “Womanizer” singer was placed under such a conservatorship following a series of public meltdowns and hospitalizations. However, in recent years, many of Britney’s fans have called into question her father’s motives. Believing he and his team may have unfairly taken advantage of the conservatorship for their own personal benefit, they bega...
Ben Cross, the English actor best known for starring in Chariots of Fire, has died at the age of 72. Cross died in Vienna, Austria on Tuesday following a short illness, according to his representative and family members (via AP). A statement from his family called Cross a natural entertainer who “could sing anything” thanks to his vast musical knowledge. “He was a man who taught us to embrace our feelings, whatever they may be,” the statement continued. “We are grateful for the time we had with him. His spirit lives on in our hearts through his words, his music, and the love that we still feel.” Born in London in 1947, Cross entered the performing arts shortly after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. He enjoyed a number of smaller roles early on, including a stint in 1977&...
Source: Busta Rhymes / Chris Rock It’s been a hot minute since we’ve gotten any new material from one of the best to ever do it, Busta Rhymes, but now that he’s once again ready to unleash the dungeon dragon on the masses he’s enlisted the comedic talents of Chris Rock to help him make the announcement. In the one-minute clip Chris Rock melodically reminds Hip-Hop rappers “You-n*ggas can’t-f*ck-with the God, Busta Rhymes” by repeating it over and over until he enthusiastically announces “Extinction Level Event 2!… beyatch!” Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God would mark Busta Rhymes’ 10th album in his 20+ year career in Hip-Hop and his first album since 2012’s Year of The Dragon. For those who aren’t familiar with the OG Hip-Hop MC, the album title suggests this will be the sequel t...
