Zedd Unveils Immersive Snapchat Lens for Hit Single “Funny”

Following the release of his latest radio hit, Zedd is keeping his foot on the promo pedal with the release of a themed Snapchat lens. The venerated DJ and producer took to social media to show off the new filter for “Funny,” his breezy dance pop collaboration with Jasmine Thompson. The lens offers an immersive glimpse into the single’s kaleidoscopic visual features, which were also recently gamified in Minecraft by a popular YouTuber named DoodleChaos. Following the July 2020 release of “Funny,” Thompson shared the story behind the “life-changing” single, saying that her producers sent an early demo to Zedd without her knowledge before the Grammy winner fell in love with it. He put his own twist on the tune, and before she knew it, the duo ha...

Afrojack and Chico Rose Team Up for “Speechless” with Azteck

Afrojack and Chico Rose have teamed up once again on the former’s Wall Recordings imprint to drop a brand new single, “Speechless,” featuring Azteck.  While this isn’t the first time the two have teamed up, “Speechless” has a unique feel when compared to their recent collaborations, like “Cloud 9” and “Sad.” The groovy melody is an earworm that’ll leave you wanting more and sure to linger on across the radio waves through summer.  The track also features haunting vocals of Azteck, which play a key role in making the track come together.  Afrojack has been among the most successful DJs to emerge from the Dutch dance music scene in the past decade, breaking into the mainstream around 2010 with a number...

Nickelback Covered “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”, and It’s Actually Pretty OK: Stream

Remember back when Nickelback were wanted by police for “crimes against music”? Almost banned from performing in London? The Canadian natives have come a long way since then, thanks in large part to their willingness to be the butt of everyone’s jokes. (Lots of rock bands still have very fragile egos, in case you didn’t see the latest Trapt news.) Nowadays Nickelback have the support of the American people, Congress, and even Smashing Pumpkins’ own Billy Corgan, who once called frontman Chad Kroeger an “incredible songwriter.” It also helps that the group recently publicly slammed Donald Trump for copyright infringement after he tried to use Nickelback in a meme on Twitter. The tides have turned so much, in fact, that we actually welcome Nickelback’s latest music release, a cover of the Ch...

The song appears on Halestorm’s new six-song Reimagined EP, which also features re-worked versions five of the band’s previous singles. A couple weeks ago, Halestorm released a new version of “Break In” featuring Lzzy duetting with Amy Lee from Evanescence. Lzzy has performed “I Will Always Love You” at select Halestorm concerts in the past, but this marks the first studio recording of her cover. While Dolly Parton wrote and originally recorded the heart-wrenching ballad in the ’70s, Lzzy’s rendi...

Biggie’s Son CJ Wallace Releases His First Music as He Grows Social Impact Company

Over a Zoom video interview, Christopher “C.J.” Wallace, Jr. holds up his dad’s jersey that almost eclipses Wallace and the entire computer screen. “It’s a 5XXL,” Wallace tells Billboard. On the back of the jersey, ‘POPPA” is stitched in bright yellow letters against the hunter green fabric. The young entrepreneur was only five months old when his father, The Notorious B.I.G., was killed. Now 23, Wallace has finally done something he says he was “very scared of for the longest time”: releasing his own music, inspired by his dad’s. “I just avoided it because you don’t wanna mess up anything great,” says Wallace. Born in New York City and raised in Los Angeles, Wallace has been in the process of building his own legacy with Think BIG — a social impact company that he co-founded with bu...

Brandon Flowers Wrote the ‘Most Romantic Lyric’ for The Killers’ New Single ‘Dying Breed’

The Killers dropped their “Dying Breed” single today (Aug. 14) ahead of their sixth studio album Imploding the Mirage, which is out next Friday, Aug. 21 via Island Records. The rock band first teased the song during an April 24-dated Instagram Live, but frontman Brandon Flowers told NME that the words might be some of the “most romantic” ones he’s ever written about his wife and muse Tana Mundkowsky. “I like the idea of where me and my wife have gotten to and where we headed,” Flowers told NME. “An overriding theme of this record is asking the question, ‘Can two become one?’ I know it’s old-fashioned, but it’s my life. It’s probably the prettiest or most romantic lyric I’ve ever written.&#...

Four Takeaways From MSG Entertainment’s Near-Zero Revenue Debut Quarter as a Standalone Company

Crippled by venue closures, concert promoter MSG Entertainment’s fiscal fourth quarter revenue fell 96% to $9 million from $215.2 million for the same period a year earlier, according to financial results released Friday (Aug. 14). These aren’t the sort of numbers investors might have hoped for in the first full earnings report since MSGE spun off from the Madison Square Garden Company on April 20, but amid a pandemic that has shut down concerts since March perhaps there is some solace that this decline in revenue was still slightly better than the 98% drop Live Nation announced Aug. 5. Shares of MSGE dipped 4.7% to $67.99 at the New York Stock Exchange on Friday. In all, MSGE’s revenue for the full fiscal year, from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2020, fell 27% to $762.9 million from $1 billio...

Adele Says She Has ‘No Idea’ When Her Album Is Coming

Ever since the 2015 release of Adele‘s 25, fans have been itching for another album by the powerhouse vocalist. However, it’s unclear when that day will be. On Friday (Aug. 14), the singer took to Instagram to share a book she just read, Untamed: Stop Pleasing, Start Living by Glennon Doyle. “If you’re ready – this book will shake your brain and make your soul scream,” she captioned the photo. “I am so ready for myself after reading this book! It’s as if I just flew into my body for the very first time. Whew!” Some fans in the comments were disappointed, initially thinking that the post was a new song announcement. “Adele where’s the album?” one fan commented with a laughing face emoji. To their surprise, the Grammy-winn...

In 2019, THE DAMNED returned to Rockfield studios to record the first new music since 2018’s “Evil Spirits” album. “The Rockfield Files” EP will be released on October 16 via Search And Destroy/Spinefarm. “Keep ‘Em Alive”, the first single from “The Rockfield Files” EP, is available now with an accompanying music video shot from the perspective of a bee going about its business.
