After Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store on Wednesday because Epic Games had introduced a way for players to purchase its virtual “V-bucks” currency outside the payment marketplace, Epic Games filed a lawsuit that could have legal ramifications in the music industry. {“nid”:”9416468″,”type”:”post”,”title”:”Sony Takes Minority Stake in Fortnite Maker With $250 Million Investment”,”relative_path”:”\/articles\/business\/9416468\/sony-minority-stake-fortnite-maker-epic-250-million-investment\/”,”media”:{“width”:&...

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz spoke to the Metal Blade Live Series about the status of the new album from TIMES OF GRACE, his collaborative project with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE singer Jesse Leach. He said (see video below): “I am really excited about that project, just because it’s such a different creative outlet for me. There’s some pretty mellow vibes on that record, for sure. It’s definitely one of the darkest things I’ve ever written topically. “We finished it up a little while ago, and we are now talking to labels about putting it out,” he explained. “I’ve got a little gameplan, and hopefully we get enough tour support from a label so we can get out and do some tours with it. “It’s just really slow going right ...

DEEP PURPLE’s ROGER GLOVER Says Music Has Lost Some Of Its Importance

In a new interview with Australia’s Heavy, DEEP PURPLE bassist Roger Glover spoke about the decline of the music industry as consumers value access over ownership and experiences over assets. “Back in the heyday or vinyl music, in the ’60s and ’70s, there was only two things important — one was music and the other was sport,” he said (hear audio below). “And they became very important because they were the only ways for people to escape poverty, for example. You could become a musician or a sportsman and there’s was the hope you could rise above yourself and get successful. But since then, technology has leapt forward to the point where music is just one of many distractions. And it’s become less important. I mean, music, back in the ’5...

MICHAEL SWEET Comments On End Of LYNCH MOB: ‘You Can’t Stop Using Your Name’

STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet has commented on George Lynch‘s decision to retire the LYNCH MOB band name. Earlier in the month, Lynch announced that he was ending LYNCH MOB, apparently due to the racial insensitivity of the band name, saying he will no longer record or perform under that moniker. George told Audio Ink Radio: “The [band] name itself, of course, has always been problematic, and now it’s inexcusable to keep the name. So, things have just sort of all conspired. A lot of different events triangulated to this point where it just makes sense on every single level to let it go and wrap it up with a nice neat bow and move on.” Lynch clarified that he will continue to make music and perform, but won’t do so under the LYNCH MOB name. “I’m no...

You know the band RA — the lead singer Sahaj [Daniel Ticotin] is a very good friend of mine, and we’re writing songs together. And I’ve got another couple of people I’m collaborating with, but Sahaj right now is definitely the main guy. I’m just taking my time with it right now. I’ve got about nine songs, and I’m excited about the input that I’ve been getting and the response. So that’ll come on down the line. I hope that everyone will enjoy that.” Last month, Witherspoon...

Source: Prince Williams / Getty The City Girls are weighing in on the “WAP” controversy by sharing their own experiences of being explicit in the music industry. On Wednesday (Aug 12), the City Girls appeared on The Breakfast Club morning radio show to discuss their latest album, City On Lock, and the journey through the music industry where they spoke on some of the biases they’ve encountered. While speaking on their experiences, JT shared that from their perspective most of their male counterparts aren’t comfortable when women are dominating the charts. “I feel like men are just threatened about the women kind of dominating right now cause they are so used to being in control of putting the women on records. Now, when women are starting the team up and doing it without ...

HHW Gaming: Apple Gives ‘Fortnite’ The Boot From App Store After Epic Games “Violates” In-App Payments Rule

Source: Epic Games/Fortnite Just like that, Fortnite is gone from Apple’s App Store after Epic Games announced it was giving players a discount if they purchased V-Bucks directly from Epic. Apple’s decision literally comes hours after Epic Games revealed it would be bypassing the 30% revenue cut that both the App Store and Google Play store takes when players purchase V-Bucks in Fortnite. In a statement released earlier today announcing its new mobile direct payment system Epic stated: “If Apple or Google lower their fees on payments in the future, Epic will pass along the savings to you.”  Apple, of course, didn’t care for the decision and subsequently has pulled the game from the App Store and in its own statement, the company said: “Today, Epic Games ...
