Despite Glastonbury Festival‘s cancellation this year, organizers behind the event’s Shangri-La after-hours area have announced a new virtual event set to take place this summer. Lost Horizon is a forthcoming two-day event that will feature over fifty performances across four stages. With the help of Sansar and VR Jam, Lost Horizon will replicate three of Shangri-La’s real-life attractions: The Gas Tower, Freedom Stage, and SHITV. In bringing the real-world environment to the virtual realm, Lost Horizon is aiming to become “the world’s largest independent music and arts festival in virtual reality.” The event’s lineup is an attention-grabbing slate of dance music icons, including Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong, Peggy Gou and S...
As Spain enters phase three of its post-lockdown reopening strategy, many of the nation’s bars and clubs have been given permission to once again begin operations. However, President Francina Armengol of the Balearic Islands has superseded this order with a decree of her own. The order will require venues within the Balearic Islands, including the clubs of Ibiza, to remain closed for at least another two weeks. In her remarks, President Armengol stated that nightlife simply “is not a priority” at this time. “It is time to bet clearly on quality, family-friendly, and respectful tourism,” she added. The move seeks to mitigate the risk of social contamination in environments where maintaining proper social distancing protocol remains diff...

Taking to Instagram to share an official statement, Louis The Child announced a rescheduled release date of Friday, June 26th in lieu of its original date, which was supposed to be tomorrow, June 12th. “What we’re experiencing right now is history,” the duo wrote. “Seeing people from all walks of life come together in support of the Black Lives Matter movement both in the streets and o...
It seems that French EDM superstar Tchami has no plans of slowing down. His bass house revolution has been ongoing for years now, and he’s now even broken into the mainstream. After working with pop queen Lady Gaga on her 2013 release “Applause,” Tchami collaborated with Gaga once again on her latest studio album, Chromatica. Tchami is credited as a producer on the Chromatica cut “Rain On Me,” a collaboration with Ariana Grande. His French house-inspired take on the production has already drawn comparisons to the mighty Daft Punk, but Tchami’s touch is unmistakable. “You want to create a musical piece that fits the artist aesthetic while also representing him or her at a specific point in time,” Tchami told...

Never doubt the conviction of Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba. On Thursday evening, the singer-songwriter shared a message on Twitter, reporting that he’s recovering from a nasty motorcycle accident earlier this month, complete with a photo from the hospital room. However, that did not stop him from showing his support for the Black Lives Matter movement. “Hi friends on June 6th I was in a motorcycle accident,” Carrabba wrote. “My injuries were severe, but not life threatening. I owe the amazing doctors, nurses and medical team treating me my endless gratitude. I am determined to make a full recovery, but I have surgeries and months of rehab to come.” From there, Carabba pivoted away from himself and to the world at large, adding, “I have not lost sight of the social issues at hand...
The final recorded song by the late American songwriter John Prine has been released. Titled “I Remember Everything”, the meditative, acoustic track arrives in the form of intimate, home video footage capturing the great bard himself. Produced by Dave Cobb, “I Remember Everything” was written by Prine and his longtime collaborator Pat McLaughlin. Given Prine’s untimely passing this past April, the track feels all too poetic, particularly when he sings: “I’ve been down this road before/ Alone as I can be/ Careful not to let my past Go sneaking up on me.” Stream “I Remember Everything” below. [embedded content] On Thursday night, Prine’s legacy was celebrated with a star-studded virtual event titled “Picture Show: A Tribute Celebrating John Prine” that featured everyone from Sturgill Simpson...

Gloria Estefan’s new single was originally slated for a fall 2019 release. Lucky for us, it comes today (June 12) at a time when the song, and its title, are sorely needed. “Cuando hay amor” (When There’s Love) is a celebration of love set to the beat of Brazilian and Colombian drums. The video, shot in Salvador Bahia, features Estefan dancing a samba de roda – a traditional Afro-Brazilian dance — surrounded by Bahian women of all ages. “We wanted to highlight the movements and singing of the beautiful Bahianas who are important historical representatives of the Samba culture,” says Estefan. “I felt we need to put some love vibes out in the universe right now,” she added about the timing of the release. “We need some alegría, we need some joy. It’s very unifying. I really wanted this...

The “Roses” rapper has released a special edition t-shirt to honor George Floyd and the countless Black lives lost to police brutality. The “Real Superheroes Tees” feature a pair of powerful designs. In the wake of international protests against the death of George Floyd and other Black men and women at the hand of police officers, BMG has committed to action. And timeframes. One week on from “Black Out Tuesday,” BMG has set out its stance on racism and inequality. The music company circulated a message to thousands of its artists and songwriters with a pledge: “We need to play our part in addressing historical injustices inflicted on black people.” Mindful of the music industry’s “record of shameful treatment of black artists,” the message reads, “we have begun a review of all historic record contracts. If any inequities or anomalies are found, BMG will create a plan to address them within 30 days.” BMG also promises to address diversity within its workplace. “...
