Organizers behind Glastonbury’s Shangri-La Launch VR Music Festival “Lost Horizon”

Organizers behind Glastonbury’s Shangri-La Launch VR Music Festival “Lost Horizon”

Despite Glastonbury Festival‘s cancellation this year, organizers behind the event’s Shangri-La after-hours area have announced a new virtual event set to take place this summer.

Lost Horizon is a forthcoming two-day event that will feature over fifty performances across four stages. With the help of Sansar and VR Jam, Lost Horizon will replicate three of Shangri-La’s real-life attractions: The Gas Tower, Freedom Stage, and SHITV. In bringing the real-world environment to the virtual realm, Lost Horizon is aiming to become “the world’s largest independent music and arts festival in virtual reality.”

The event’s lineup is an attention-grabbing slate of dance music icons, including Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong, Peggy Gou and Skream, just to name a few. In the spirit of its exploratory virtual programming, the event additionally promises attendees additional secret headliners, which are still waiting to be discovered.

Fans can catch a full broadcast of Lost Horizon on YouTube and Twitch. Those intent on exploring the virtual world from their PC desktop must sign up for a free ticket to the show. Finally, VR users will need to download the Sansar app to their device in order to experience the event.

Proceeds from Lost Horizon will go toward supporting Amnesty International and The Big Issue. The virtual festival is set to take shape on July 3rd and 4th, 2020.
