Source: TMZ Sports / TMZ When you’re out causing mayhem, you still better know who not to f*ck with. Case in point, a guy who bashed a car window learned this the hard way went the vehicle he wrecked turned out to belong to NBA guard J.R. Smith, who in kind blessed the vandal with the most proper of fades. It’s 2020, so of course, the incident was caught on video. TMZ posted the footage and Smith is seen putting the hands and feet on the alleged violator. Yes, we took note that Smtih was rocking a clean pair of Air Jordan 3 while he kicked the guy. J.R. took to the Internets to give his side of the story. “I just want you all to know right now, before you see this sh*t somewhere else, one of these little motherfucking white boys didn’t know where he was going and broke my f*cking window in...
Source: Foot Locker / Foot Locker Inc. This past weekend’s protests over the murder of George Floyd became one for the books as protestors overran a police precinct in Minneapolis and rioters made out like bandits looting sneaker spots like Flight Club, Footlocker, and other high end sneaker boutiques. Still, even with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise up in smoke, brands like Nike, Adidas, and others are standing in solidarity with protestors because they know this is much deeper than replaceable garment. It’s about justice for Black lives because they f*cking matter. In a statement addressing the protests and the importance of the message behind it, Nike posted a one minute clip asking everyone to recognize the racism the Black community has been forced to endure...

For this year’s Record Store Day, Brandi Carlile has teamed up with remaining Soundgarden members Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd, and Matt Cameron to record new versions of “Black Hole Sun” and “Searching with My Good Eye Closed”. This tribute to Soundgarden will be released as a 12-inch on September 26th, which is the second of three separate Record Store Drops this year. In addition to Thayil, Shepherd, and Cameron, Brandi Carlile worked with her frequent collaborators, twins Phil and Tim Hanseroth. The songs were recorded at Seattle’s London Bridge Studio, a legendary place that hosted both Soundgarden and Brandi Carlile early in their careers. As 2020’s official Record Store Ambassador, Carlile has kept up a steady stream of social media posts about the event and her own contribution. Appare...
Nothing about Kevin Smith’s 1994 cult-classic film Clerks lent itself to making an animated version for ABC. Not the maxed-out credit-card budget, not the grainy, black-and-white cinematography, and surely not the foulmouthed, esoteric nerding out about innocent plumbers dying on the Death Star or how much the average jizz mopper makes working a nudie booth. And yet, thanks to studio politics, the Disney-owned network is exactly where the animated adaptation landed. It was no surprise then when the premiere got bumped back to the pilot graveyard that is summer, only two of the original six episodes aired on the network, and Dante and Randal curtly got told that they weren’t supposed to be there today … or any day for that matter. Editors’ Picks No, Clerks the cartoon dropped dead qui...
In a world gone mad, the Twitterverse reveals itself as both a tool for positivity and asinine outrage. At the same time as K-pop stans mobilized to sabotage a Dallas Police Department snitching app, right-wing trolls spread false allegations of The National’s Aaron Dessner being an Antifa organizer. He has since clarified that, of course, he’s not. Video circulated over the weekend of a bearded white man at a Columbus protest appearing to pay black protesters cash to, as the accusers claimed, start a riot. Twitter user @LilBlondie45, a woman whose name reads “Michelle 🇺🇸 PUT CUOMO IN A NURSING HOME” and whose account has since been suspended, thought she recognized the man as Dessner, and sicced people on the musician. “Meet @aaron_dessner he’s an Antifa org...
Billboard will be taking part in #TheShowMustBePaused, or “Blackout Tuesday,” in solidarity with the nationwide protests demanding justice. This movement, created by music industry executives Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang in response to the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless other Black citizens at the hands of police, urges that we not conduct business and instead use this time to reflect and learn. The blackout, scheduled for Tuesday (June 2), “is meant to intentionally disrupt the work week,” according to initiative’s website. “Monday suggests a long weekend, and we can’t wait until Friday for change. It is a day to take a beat for an honest, reflective and productive conversation about what actions we need...
On June 2, the music industry will unite for “Blackout Tuesday”—a day to disconnect from work and reconnect with the community—but most importantly, as a call-to-action to end racial injustice and police brutality. “As gatekeepers of the culture, it’s our responsibility to not only come together to celebrate the wins, but also hold each other up during loss,” reads a statement that’s being circulated under the hashtag #TheShowMustBePaused. In response to the recent murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless other Black citizens at the hands of police, the initiative was created by music executives Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang, “two Black women in music in observance of the long-standing racism and inequality that exists from the boardroom t...
