Adult Swim has shared the opening scene of Rick and Morty season six as the show returned on September 4. The season’s first episode, entitled “Solaricks,” picks up right where season five left off. Rick and Morty are still stuck in a now-destroyed Citadel with a broken portal gun following Evil Morty’s escape, and all hope is lost. Rick goes off with a monologue detailing how they have no idea how to get home and they ultimately decide to face their fate — lost forever. With the season premiere, co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland opened up about when Rick and Morty could possibly end. Roiland explained that he thinks “the show could run forever. The show could run as long as we want it to,” while Harmon revealed that the show’s longevity “just feels infinite.” Harmon added, “And I ...
The Wonder Years’ lead singer Dan Campbell’s relationship to the noise of the world as it exists around him is different than others. From the range hood of a stove to the bustle of a busy street, the vocalist struggles to deal with noise — except when that noise is due to him. “I’m affected by loud sounds that I’m not in control of,” the Wonder Years’ Dan Campbell explains. “It just starts to overwhelm me and my anxiety starts spiking, but if I stand onstage with a microphone in front of 10,000 people, I will be in command.” With the Wonder Years releasing The Hum Goes On Forever last week, Campbell’s noise control needs to be at an all-time high. The title of their new album itself is a reference to a poem written in the liner notes of their previous record (2018’s Sister Cities) and a s...
Pixies guitarist Joey Santiago scores his first writing credit in the group’s storied, 35-plus-year history on “Dregs of the Wine,” the latest track to be unveiled from the upcoming album Doggerel. “I guess I was in kind of a zombie state, just playing,” Santiago says of the initial instrumental idea. “After I stopped playing, I put it down and went, ‘Well, that was a fucking waste of time. What a piece of shit I am.’ I beat myself up a lot, but my girlfriend, unbeknownst to me, was recording me. She played it back to me, and I go, ‘Fuck! Hold on a second here! This stuff is good!’” Pixies frontman Black Francis eventually added lyrics about “living in Los Angeles in the ‘90s with my then-wife, hanging out with Joey and his ex-wife, lots of trips to Las Vegas, a lot of drinking, litt...
