The remake of the popular Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game has supposedly been delayed indefinitely after Aspyr Media, the company in charge of the remake, fired its important staff. According to reports, design director Brad Prince and art director Jason Minor were fired a week after Aspyr completed a demo to show Lucasfilm and Sony on June 30. The company supposedly held several meetings in July to let employees know that the demo was not up to standard and that the remake “would be put on hold.” In addition, Aspyr informed staff that it will be searching for new contracts and development opportunities. While a reason for the firing of Prince and Minor were not confirmed, a source told Bloomberg that the amount of time and money spent to create the demo was “disproportionate.”...
A hacker has now stolen upward of 69 million accounts on Neopets and is trying to sell them for Bitcoin. According to new reports, the hacker managed to obtain “the complete date and source code” of Neopets‘ website, which very possibly compromised account information including a user’s email address, password, gender, IP address, countries of origin, and birthdays. There’s also a chance credit card information has been leaked. The hacker is now trying to sell all this information for four Bitcoin on a black market website, which roughly equates to $92,000 USD at its current price. “Neopets recently became aware that customer data may have been stolen,” the game now writes on a pop-up notice when entering its site. “We immediately launched an investigation assisted by a leading f...
Since its launch nearly two years ago, PlayStation 5 players have been requesting support for 1440p, or QHD (quad high definition). Although the console has always supported 1080p, 1440p video output is in-demand by those who use monitors to game rather than TVs. PlayStation’s Senior Vice President of Platform Experience announced today that the PS5 is rolling out a software beta that includes 1440p support, along with a few new features. As of right now, the beta is limited to participants from select countries. Console owners invited to participate will receive an email notifying them that the software is available to download. From there, they can opt for the additional visual setting on compatible PC monitors and TVs. If a game has native support 1440p, players will be able to experien...

Taking place in South Carolina, trading card investor Christopher Polydorou had three unopened First Edition Pokémon TCG boxes stolen from his temperature-controlled room. The 62-year-old insurance broker claims he purchased the cards more than 20 years ago, one of which was a Japanese version of the collectible cards from 1999. Polydorou estimates that the cards stolen were worth roughly $500,000 USD. The police report indicates that “an unknown person entered his collection room” and removed the cards. Polydorou also commented that the only people in his private card room were “men from an HVAC company” that his 91-year-old mother hired. For the last year and a half, State Champs singer Derek Discanio has been building his own brand outside of the band. That’s not to say that the New York-based pop punkers are going to be slowing down anytime soon, but rather that Discanio’s streetwear line, Steez, won’t be counting on the band’s existing success or looking to ride its coattails. Instead, Discanio is looking to expand Steez outside of his existing platform to reach streetwear fans who’ve never heard of his band before — reaching fans new and old through both online drops and an in-person merch tent for festivals and events that may or may not involve State Champs. With Steez now looking into retail distribution and expanding into hosting its own events and other endeavors, SPIN spoke with Discanio about where the brand has...

King Princess is set to release her sophomore album, Hold On Baby, on Friday, and the 23-year-old singer sat down with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe to reveal the poignant story behind the album’s closer, “Let Us Die.” When she wrote the song and sent it to producer Mark Ronson, she said she knew that “this was probably the best song I’ve ever written.” Ronson, who was equally impressed by the song, suggested that the late Taylor Hawkins should lay down drums on the track. “He was like, ‘But we really need a drummer who’s going to bring life to this. This needs to be a living and breathing person behind a drum kit and not a programmed beat, not a sample. This is the type of song that needs humanity behind all the instruments.’” Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest vid...
