Fresh off his momentous Electric Forest debut, EDM.com Class of 2022 star Wreckno has unveiled a new EP, The Fantasy. Just like Wreckno’s persona, The Fantasy is unpredictable and magnetic, exploring the deeper reaches of the Michigan producer and rapper’s distinct sound. It opens with the swaggy hip-house track “DELUSIONAL” before “Top Billin’,” which harkens back to his bass music roots to those bassy roots, via a rumbling collab with Kizer. Calvin Harris has tapped 21 Savage for a song called “New Money.” The single will appear on Harris’ forthcoming album Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2. Maintaining the feel of Harris’ original Funk Wav Bounces, which dropped in 2017, “New Money” is an upbeat feel-good type of song. As the rapper drops clear, crisp bars, he’s backed by bass, synths and simple piano melody. “New Money” is the second song Harris has released off of the record. Early last month, the DJ shared “Potion” with Dua Lipa and Young Thug. He also took to social media the other day to announce all of the featured artists on Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2. Alongside Lipa, Young Thug and 21 Savage, the list includes Lil Durk, Offset, Tinashe, Normani, Pusha T, Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell and more. Calvin Harris’ first album ...
Darren Dixon — or better known to you as D Double E — started his musical journey over 20 years ago growing up on a diet of jungle, U.K garage, and dancehall, studying the art from his older inspirations and Jamaican icons Bounty Killer, Ninjaman, and Buju Banton. Since then, the journey has been a wild one for the 42-year-old. Labeled as DJ Dan under the crew Bass Inject in the early ’90s, Dixon was a jungle and U.K. garage musician at heart until the year 1998 saw the launch of the drum and bass-centric Reckless Crew which took over London’s Rinse FM pirate radio station. It wasn’t until he was a member of the early grime collective N.A.S.T.Y. Crew alongside the likes of Ghetts and Kano that the genre became the new thing on the block. Bluku! Bluku!, Double’s 2011-released debut EP took ...

Within our camp we have a saying: “Mad shit happens when you do art”—it means what it means. You make stuff because you want to make it, and you throw stuff you’ve made into the world because you’d rather share it than not and then you leave it alone and let it do its thing. That thing you did can take you to places you didn’t intend to go with it, but it’s out of your control really. You have no control over the mad shit. It just happens (when you do art). Elton John saw our stuff and he started telling the press he thought we were good and then we chatted on the phone and after a few calls I said, “Elton, do you want to come to the studio and play piano on a tune?” because, fuck it, it doesn’t matter if he says no. Anyway, he said “yes,” so it doesn’t matter that he didn’t say no. I don’...
By Mia Hughes The five best choruses you’ll hear this year are probably all on Momma’s Household Name, the third album by the Los Angeles-born, New York-based alt-rock band comprising 23-year-old Etta Friedman and 24-year-old Allegra Weingarten, as well as 23-year-old Aron Kobayashi Ritch. Armed with a real studio for the first time, they took the opportunity to lean all the way into their major-label ’90s influences — artists like Nirvana, Liz Phair, and The Smashing Pumpkins — resulting in a polished and unrestrained singalong sound. Yet more than any specific band, Household Name is a tribute to the mythology of the rock star, with all of its cockiness, allure, and mystery. The indelibly catchy tracks “Speeding 72” and “Medicine” have swagger and scale not often found in indie anym...

On March 22 in Pittsburgh, nine shows into the first leg of her When I Close My Eyes North American tour, Chelsea Cutler hit a wall. The Connecticut-born, New York-based artist had missed performing so much throughout the COVID-19 pandemic — deprived of the natural dopamine hit. But renewed adrenaline couldn’t compensate for a headache and strained vocal chords. Cutler finished her set at Stage AE and decided not to do her usual three-song encore. Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news “And I remember just feeling so guilty for making that decision, because I felt so selfish,” Cutler says. “From that point of the tour onwards, I was like, ‘I can’t let people down like that. These shows aren’t about me.’ That flipped the switch in me, and I was...
