Katy Perry cleared up rumors that she’s relocating to Kentucky following the season 20 finale of American Idol on Sunday night. “You can’t believe everything you hear or read. Early on in the making of my record, Hideous Bastard, I realised that I was writing a lot about fear and shame. I imagine that might paint a picture of a dark, “woe is me” sounding album, but in recent years I’ve become a firm believer that the best antidote to these feelings can be bringing them to the surface and shedding some light on them. I haven’t written the record to dwell, but rather to free myself of some of the shame and fear that I’ve felt for a long time. So, I hear a lot of the music as joyous, because the experience of writing and recording it has been the complete opposite of what fear and shame have been for me. Two thirds in, having a good idea of what the record was about, I realised I’d been circling around one of the things that has probably caused me the most fear and...
Gunna has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, his lawyer Steven H. Sadow tells Pitchfork. The rapper, whose real name is Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, has also been denied bond. His trial is scheduled to begin on Monday, January 9, 2023. Sadow wrote in an email to Pitchfork: The Court was obviously concerned about threats and intimidation of witnesses. We believe when the Court hears evidence, not just the words of the prosecutor, it will find that Sergio’s release on bond will not, directly or indirectly, pose a significant risk to witnesses. We look forward to having an evidentiary hearing on this as soon as the Court permits. Gunna was named in a grand jury indictment that alleged that YSL (aka Young Thug’s Young Stoner ...
