There simply aren’t many artists as determined as Kaskade in the electronic music scene. At age 50 and with more accolades than a Tom Brady trophy case, Kaskade seems to be hellbent on growth at this juncture of his storied career. He continues to challenge the limitations of what dance music artists can achieve, such as a historic performance at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and a momentous merch collab with DC Comics and Superman. The iconic “Eyes” producer now has his sights set on 2022, taking to Twitter to tease a brand new album. Kaskade recently announced that he was releasing a reimagined version of Fire & Ice, his 7th studio album, before releasing a “v3” version of one of its standouts, “Turn It Down.” If he does indeed d...
Remember making music in your kitchen as a kid, banging pots and pans together to find any semblance of a rhythm? For Italian music producer Dario Rossi, this childhood pastime has evolved to the big leagues: techno street performances, comprised of an elaborate setup of pots, pans, empty buckets and scrap metal. But he’s not playing around—these impressive techno sets are unmatched in their sonic texture, rhythm and groove. And with Rossi’s frenzied drumming—he’s been dubbed a “superdrummer”—and concentration face, they’re visually pleasing to boot. With a YouTube channel that dates back to 2014, it’s clear Rossi is a veteran in the art of techno street performances. He’s even graduated from brick and cobblestones ...
Slab City have recruited rising U.K. rapper Nat James for “Taking Over,” a blistering trap anthem. “Taking Over” is a trap lover’s dream, with crunchy brass stabs, tight snare rolls, and a thick low end. Thanks to the rowdy production of Slab City and the relentless hip-hop flair of James, it’s a nasty blend of trap music and grime that should fit right into a plethora of bass music and festival-oriented playlists. James spits with a chip on his shoulder in the verses, which eventually build and cultivate in equally ferocious drops. It’s here where Slab City shine, producing two wild hybrid trap segments with screeching synths and thunderous 808s along with James’ anthemic call to arms. Check out the massive “Taking Over” below.&n...
EYE OF MELIAN is the brainchild of Dutch songwriter and producer Martijn Westerholt, known for DELAIN and WITHIN TEMPTATION. As the main songwriter of the metal band DELAIN, Martijn wanted an outlet to create lush orchestral fantasy music. In 2017, he teamed up with American lyricist Robin La Joy, a life-long fantasy enthusiast who spends much of her time immersed in books, particularly the works of Tolkien. Their mutual passion for fantasy-inspired music led them to the creation of EYE OF MELIAN. EYE OF MELIAN‘s ethereal and symphonic music has been described as movie score-like — unfolding epic and elegant storyscapes in the listener’s mind. Successful Finnish solo artist Johanna Kurkela‘s angelic voice quickens the fantasy to full life. She is also known for her work i...
CROWBAR will release its new album, “Zero And Below”, on March 4, 2022 via MNRK Heavy (formerly eOne Music). The LP’s first single, “Chemical Godz”, can be streamed below. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Duane Simoneaux at OCD Recording And Production in Metairie, Louisiana, “Zero And Below” is reverently old school, counterbalanced by a resonant melodicism that’s stunningly mature. Songs like “Chemical Godz”, “Bleeding From Every Hole” and “It’s Always Worth The Gain” demonstrate what CROWBAR does better than any other band: powerful, evocative, and crushingly heavy music. Celebrating a recent 30th anniversary, CROWBAR is led by one of the most beloved figures in heavy metal, riff overlord Kirk Wind...
Moldovan extreme metal outfit INFECTED RAIN will release its fifth album, “Ecdysis”, on January 7, 2022 via Napalm Records. Following the success of singles/videos “Postmortem Pt. 1” and “Fighter”, INFECTED RAIN turns up the heat once more with electrifying third single “The Realm Of Chaos” featuring guest vocals from Heidi Shepherd of BUTCHER BABIES. The recent tourmates provide a decimating dual vocal attack as the track pummels and bends with raging riffs and urging drums. INFECTED RAIN frontwoman Elena “Lena Scissorhands” Cataraga says about “The Realm Of Chaos”: “‘The Realm Of Chaos’ was inspired by the massive depression we all lived in 2020, dedicated to the lost nation and confused society we ...
Juice WRLD‘s team has unveiled the album artwork and tracklist for the late rapper’s upcoming posthumous album, Fighting Demons. The project will include eighteen tracks, with several spoken-word interludes from Juice WRLD and others. Fighting Demons will host the rapper’s two previously released tracks, “Already Dead” and “Wandered to LA” with Justin Bieber, along with a new track with Trippie Redd and Polo G titled “Feline” and another song called “Girl Of My Dreams” with Suga from BTS, among others. The cover, which was shared on Juice WRLD’s Instagram, sees the rap legend stepping through a demonic pool of water in an all-black assemblage. Juice WRLD’s first posthumous record, Legends Never Die, was released in July of last year and received the largest Billboard debut of 202...
UFO guitarist Vinnie Moore has told Michael’s Record Collection that he was very sad to hear about the passing of the band’s guitarist/keyboard player Paul Raymond in April 2019. “We were already out in the middle of [UFO‘s] big farewell tour,” he said. “And right after we did England — like, one week later, man — we got the message that Paul had passed. “Man, he was so happy,” Vinnie continued. “We were really having some successful shows — good crowds; everything was going really well. I know he was very, very happy. It’s kind of a shame that he had to kick off when things were going really well. “When I first heard it, I thought, ‘Okay, this is probably the end of the band,’ but then there started to be some t...
Farrah Abraham is “back” with the teen moms. Sophia’s mama, who made her debut on 16 and Pregnant in 2009 and subsequently appeared on Teen Mom OG, is a special guest on Teen Mom: Family Reunion. So what happens when she surprises the group, and how does everyone react?...
Heavy is the Challenge championship crown, but for the four winless female Spies, Lies and Allies finalists, wearing it for the first time appears to be worth a craned neck. So if a woman does, indeed, ascend to the throne, who will it be? On the latest episode of Spies, Lies and Allies, and after Emanuel and Amanda were bounced from the game in a decisive “Night of Eliminations,” the remaining eight players finally heard the words they’d been waiting for: You made it to the Finals. And while the final male pool included multi-time champion CT and finalists Devin, Kyle and Nelson, the women’s side was wide open for a first-time winner. So among Tori, Emy, Kaycee and Nany, who’s likeliest to snatch her first victory? If momentum proves to be the key to success, Tori might finally have the g...
At this point, the BTS song “Butter” is already a bit of an institution. Despite only dropping in May, it’s reached multi-platinum status in addition to hitting No. 1 in several countries (including the United States) and gaining a remix featuring none other than Megan Thee Stallion. There are a lot of factors at play motivating that kind of success, but one of the main ones is that, simply, BTS are so incredibly popular globally that it’s a bit hard to fathom. Perhaps that’s why all seven members will, at the end of 2021, take a much-deserved hiatus. It’s hard to say how long it’ll last — earlier this week, the group’s music company Big Hit called it an “extended period of rest” in a statement — but however long it is, it’s...
St. Vincent shared a new version of “Pay Your Way In Pain” which was remixed by none other than and the post-punkers IDLES. The song was originally off of the Grammy-nominated musician’s Daddy’s Home album. The sinister, techno-twist of “Pay Your Way In Pain” heavily emphasizes the war-like energy and gritty mechanics of IDLES, while maintaining St. Vincent’s and the original track’s electro groove. The new and old are honestly two completely different tracks, for two completely different moods, yet of the same mother—St. Vincent. “What I really enjoy about the Daddy’s Home album is using this camp energy in a really violent way,” Mark Bowen of IDLES said in a statement. “This embracing of the nostalgic even the kitsch but using it to make progressive futuristic music. It reminde...
