Is the Anonymous Creator of Bitcoin Communicating Through Music?

As the legend goes, Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto vanished from the Internet and was never heard from again in April 2011, now over a decade ago.  However, there’s no doubt the world is more eager to hear from him than ever before. Today Bitcoin trades over $45,000, Tesla has the crypto on its balance sheet, and AMC Theaters recently announced they’re aiming to accept it as currency by the end of this year.  Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but we have to at least explore the possibility that Nakamoto is communicating to us another way: via music. An EP titled Bitcoin, released in February 2021 has gained some buzz due to the fact that the artist credited with the recordings is the elusive Bitcoin founder himself. Interestingly, Bitcoin is a lo-fi album...

St. Vincent Throws a One-Woman Parade in New Music Video “Daddy’s Home”: Watch

St. Vincent leads a parade and the streets are not impressed in the new official music video for “Daddy’s Home.” Directed by Bill Benz, the visual to the title track from her latest album finds Annie Clark singing from the back of a flatbed. The few people she spies don’t seem all that excited to see her, a fact which is explained by a graphic representation of the “parade route,” which is really just a loop around a single block. That doesn’t stop the singer from strutting back and forth in front of the mic, crowing for anyone who’ll listen (and a few who will not) that “Inmate 502” is now free. The “Daddy’s Home” video is currently available exclusively on Facebook, and you can watch it over at St. Vincent’s page. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis to Soundtrack New Movie Blonde About Marilyn Monroe

Longtime collaborators and friends Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have reportedly been working on a soundtrack for a new film about Marilyn Monroe. The movie, currently titled Blonde, is directed by Andrew Dominik and is scheduled for release later next year, notes The Guardian. When asked about what it’s like working with Warren on projects like these, Cave said it’s “an incredible privilege” that he doesn’t take for granted. “In any situation, he wants the best for me and I want the best for him,” he said. “We have basically developed a way of working where we both relinquish control of the music we make together. We spend many hours improvising music together, sitting and playing in good faith without the politics and power grabs of many partnerships. We just let the songs find themsel...

The In Living Color writer and promoter touched on the idea during his recent interview on KBXX 97.9 The Box, after he was asked if he’s staying updated with VERZUZ. “No, I have not,” he answered, following it up with the question, “Do they do it with comedians?” The hosts immediately asked him who he would go against, and Wayans instantly answered “[Dave] Chappelle,” much to their delight. “I’m calling him out,” Wayans added with a laugh. Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande & More Receive iHeartRadio Titanium Awards for Reaching 1 Billion Audience Spins

Lipa alone is being honored for “Levitating,” according to iHeart, because the 1 billion total audience spin figure includes both her solo version and the remix featuring DaBaby. The remix alone doesn’t meet the criteria. These are the first titanium award recipients announced in 2021. The total audience spins calculation is based on Mediabase airplay and is multiplied by the number of persons listening to the radio at the time of those plays, delivering total audience impressions, which iHeart regards as the broadcast equivalent of the number of streams from a streaming music service. Post Malone and Shawn Mendes were the top titanium award winners in 2020, taking three awards each. Posty scored with “Sunflower,” “Wow” and “Circles”; Mendes with “...
