If you’re feeling brave, Dua Lipa’s your gal to look to— her bleached front sections have kicked off a huge trend we are seeing everywhere at the moment, or why not try her pastel pink rinse. Jodie Searle, Senior Colourist, Michael Van Clarke says, if you’re taking this route “always use a semi permanent colour, although if applied on porous or bleached hair, it can still be almost permanent so bare this in mind. If your hair is brunette or darker, the chances are you will have to bleach your hair before you can apply a lighter shade such as pink.” Then there’s the various shades of red, most recently sported by Kim K (anyone else reminded of childhood discos and hair mascara with her latest posts?), or maybe it’s a chance to embrace those grown out roots with dipped ...
As I write this, outside the wind is howling, the skies are overcast and rain is pattering against the windows. Yep, this is English summertime, folks. While we all like to complain about the July drizzle, there is something undeniably cosy about being inside on a day like today, and it has us thinking ahead to the leaf-strewn months of autumn. Our craving for comfort has also been helped along by Net-a-Porter dropping it’s pre-fall edit; from tailoring and knitwear, to leather and long boots, we’re well on our way with planning our next season capsule. There are certain themes that we’ve spotted in this luxe line-up, and so we thought we’d give you the low-down. Call it a preview of what’s to come for autumn ...
Minimalists have been having a ball this year, quite frankly. You’d be forgiven for thinking that it’s just about Daniel Lee’s Bottega Veneta and The Row‘s pared-back aesthetic but it’s so much more than that. The less-is-more look has permeated throughout all of fashion (with the exception of those brands with bold design DNAs), and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular. A plainer, less fussy piece, whether it’s clothes or accessories, will work with everything else you already own. It’s a smart choice in many ways—it can help you shop less and ensure your wardrobe is as sustainable as possible. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. Rating: 3.5/5 stars Review: “I’d argue that mascara is one of the most finicky types of beauty products to review. Not only does everyone have different lashes (from length to density to curl), but also everyone has different lash goals. My ultimate mascara, for instance, gives me lots of volume, lots of curl, lots of length, and lots of definition. Basically, I want practically cartoonish, borderline Disney Princess–level lashes that completely pop out from my face. My lashes are naturally super long, and honestly, I don’t mind a little clumping. In fact, it’s kind of my signature look. However, I know that kind of drama is some people’s worst mascara nightmare. To each their own! “My long lashes and my eyes are probably my favorite feature, a...
Although it still remains ambiguous as to the exact products she plans to launch, five specific names were mentioned in the application: Buff Ryder, Instant Reset, Fat Water, Flash Nap & Hydra Vizor (we are SO intrigued). From recent videos posted on social media, it looks likely there will at least be a foamy cleanser, serum and moisturiser in the mix. The other big piece of news we know, although it shouldn’t come as a surprise, is that Rihanna is planning on shaking up the game again with her products being aimed at both women and men. She’s even got ASAP Rocky and Lil Nas X starring in the launch campaign. Replying to a fan on twitter she said ‘Whoever told you skincare has a gender, LIED to you!’ Those shared bathroom cabinets are about to get a lot more streamlined and...
I have to admit, when we first started working from home, the idea of wearing leggings every day was very appealing. Taking the complexity out of getting dressed, it was a somewhat welcome reprieve from having to put together a cute, office or event-worthy outfit, each day. Though, as a Fashion Editor, the novelty soon wore off and I felt myself missing the routine of actively getting dressed. While I am not advocating for working in a ball gown (though there is a maxi dress in my mix that is pretty close) I do feel like dressing in a more polished way has its benefits, particularly when it comes to my productivity levels. With this new found awareness, recently I’ve started to put together outfits each morning that feel elevated yet still prioritise comfort, bec...
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably itching to get to a beach right now. We’ve suffered through a long, stagnant, (socially-distanced) spring and now is the time for the weather to warm up so we can all take a much-deserved dip in the ocean. Or at the very least, a scenic beach pic to post on our Instagrams. Whether you’re able to get to the Mediterranean for some guaranteed good weather, or are opting for a beach trip a little closer to home, seawater is sure to do you some good. So, what to wear on a trip to the seaside? Social media is, as expected, brimming with ideas. From cover-ups that can double as dresses to oversized shirts and fluid shorts, there are so many fun ways to dress up your swimwear this season. Why not take a l...
It’s been a long time since last season’s fashion month in February and March. So you could forgive us for not remembering every little detail. However, there was one item that made a real lasting impact: Gucci’s new it bag. When Alessandro Michele presented his latest collection back in March almost every look featured the iconic Jackie bag, which means this bag is set to be the next cult accessory from the Italian fashion house. If you recognise the name, then it’s probably because technically this bag isn’t new. The handbag was initially named after Jackie Kennedy and has been a hero Gucci item for years but it’s been relaunched with a bit of a makeover. The Jackie 2.0 has the signature shoulder strap and gold clasp across the body of...
As I type, the weather outside my window has gone from sunshine to torrential rain in less than an hour. It hasn’t been over 20 degrees in a week and I actually had to put the heating on this past Thursday. Granted, I do live in the north of England so you’ll forgive me then for what I’m about to say: I’m very much looking forward to autumn. Of course, with autumn comes some new wardrobe looks—I should caveat here that it doesn’t have to be new items, but rather a chance to style new outfits. For me, the colder months are great because you can transition a lot of your summer pieces by doing the thing that every fashion editor loves to talk about: layering. That said, there are always a few pieces that I like to invest in come the new season, nam...
As far as fashionable footwear is concerned, the prominence of Birkenstock sandals is nothing new. The style has been around for years and is heralded as one of the comfiest options available. Celebrities even tend to agree, with everyone from Katie Holmes to Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid sporting the brand’s Arizona style. With a minimalist two-strap detail and the signature Birkenstock buckle, the shoe is easy to spot when worn alongside almost any ensemble. Though, despite its status as a celebrity favourite, Birkenstock Arizonas are surprisingly both easily attainable and affordable, with the labels ‘Eva’ style starting at just £35. While I have personally never purchased a pair, the footwear does also come highly recommended by severa...

Every spring I tell myself this will be the year I stick to a capsule of minimal basics, but then I see one printed midi dress and I’m over my dream of a beige and white summer wardrobe. This year in particular I’ve been gravitating towards statement prints thanks to their mood-boosting qualities—a rainbow midi dress may do nothing in the grand scheme of things, but nonetheless I do find colour and prints can have an impact on my daily outlook. There are five prints in particular this summer that are making me smile, with several coming from the capital of uplifting clothing—Copenhagen. This city’s fashion scene might be relatively small, but it is largely responsible for the look-at-me midi dresses and throw-it-all-together aesthetic that now dom...
