Everything You Need to Know About Amina Muaddi and Her Shoes

Muaddi has been on the fashion scene for a while, but she only went solo with her shoe brand last year. Growing up in Italy was always an inspiration for Muaddi to want to design shoes, but she first sought out a career working at magazines—an invaluable network for any fledgling designer. She attended the European Institute of Design and worked as a stylist at L’Uomo Vogue and GQ, ensuring she understood the world of fashion before completely fulfilling her dream. In pursuit of following in the legendary footsteps of footwear designers like Manolo Blahnik, Muaddi travelled to Italy’s famous shoe-making district, Riviera del Brenta, to learn the trade and co-founded her first brand, Oscar Tiye. Following that, Muaddi then moved to Paris, where she collaborated with French couturier Alexand...

Trust Monikh: These Are the 13 Basics I’m Totally Obsessed With

Wanting to get that one last summer piece so you can wear it to your next girls day out, but also know that autumn dressing is round the corner? Well, don’t let those wintery whispers spoil your last few weeks of jacketless dressing. We constantly talk about how much we need the sun and heat, so we owe it to ourselves to enjoy it—and, of course, invest in a dress or two if that’s what we want.  When in an almost end of season predicament, I always ask myself, will this piece last? Will it be something I get out of storage year after year? Will I not only feel good in it now, but will it work for me later in life? If yes, then that’s a forever piece.  I have so many looks that I’ve worn again and again for year’s now. One’s that have worked for me in my mid 20s and now 30s, throug...

I Just Tried The New Hourglass Foundation And I Have Many Thoughts

As I write this, I’m trying to remember the last time I wore a proper foundation. With the non-stop heatwave that was this summer, I pretty much ditched base products all together and opted to show off my sun-kissed skin, enhancing it with a little bronzer and cream blush. When it’s hot, the idea of wearing a foundation all day felt almost oppressive but now as summer winds down I’m looking for a soft introduction back to bases to subtly enhance my complexion as all the summer glow slowly drains away. Enter Hourglass’s new Ambient Soft Glow Foundation.  There’s no doubt, Hourglass are a brand known for their glow. Their Ambient Lighting Powder set the standard for setting powders that kept makeup in place, but are luminising rather than matte and cakey. Even the brand’s high coverage&...

Let’s break it down by the numbers: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were engaged once in 2002 and once this year. They had one wedding in Las Vegas last month, followed by a whirlwind Parisian honeymoon. That brings us to this weekend when they had a second wedding in Riceboro, Georgia. For the latter ceremony, J.Lo had three—count ’em, three—different wedding gowns, all custom-designed by Ralph Lauren. She also wore 27-carat Samer Halimeh Pear Shape Drop Flower Marquise Diamond Earrings. Are you still with me? Although Vogue has the exclusive on the professional images of J.Lo’s wedding dresses, her stylist Rob Zangardi shared some behind-the-scenes images that we’re absolutely revelling in. In a press release, Ralph Lauren detailed exactly what went ...

12 Things a Skincare Expert Wants Our Editors to Stop Doing Immediately

“Stop taking good skin for granted. As someone who favours less over more and has essentially fairly good skin, Lisa informed me that I’m probably taking my skin for granted rather than doing a few small things to make it look its best. She has told me to not ignore what my skin is trying to tell me. As the largest organ in the body, it needs to be fed in the same way that you would feed your stomach or brain! So if it’s dry or I sense my dairy intolerance flaring up in forehead spots, listen to it.” “Don’t choose products based on scent. She could tell I liked scientifically led products and favoured lighter-weight formulas rather than anything too heavy, but the problem is that I’m just choosing things because of the smell rather than the ef...

20 Moisturisers That Won’t Clog Your Pores at All

You’ve probably heard the term before and thought it sounded good for the most part but didn’t really know much about it. “Simply put, a non-comedogenic product has been tested to not clog pores,” explains board-certified dermatologist Ife Rodney, MD, FAAD, of Eternal Dermatology and Aesthetics. “That means it’s less likely to cause acne. Though, this is not guaranteed. Dirt, dead skin cells, or sebum can clog the pores, causing acne. Comedogenic products—usually heavy or greasy—can also clog your pores. It’s important to note that non-comedogenic products won’t necessarily treat your breakouts. They just won’t contribute to the problem.” While non-comedogenic products are helpful for just about anyone, those with oily, sensitive,...

Kendall Jenner Just Wore the Flat Shoe Trend That’s All Over Mango and M&S

Wouldn’t you just love to spend some time in Kendall Jenner’s shoe wardrobe? I’m sure it’s a magical place. I’ve written my fair share of content about her shoes, but this is the first time I’ve covered Jenner wearing ballet flats. But given that they’re a major trend at the moment and she loves a trend, it’s quite fitting. Personally speaking, I love it when somewhat classic shoe styles such as ballet flats become trendy, as I can feel good about investing in them knowing that I’ll still want to wear them once the trendiness cools off. Ballet flats are that for me, and forward brands like The Row, Miu Miu, and Gucci are embracing it and people are responding, as I see them selling out left and right. But not to worry, th...
