Lagos bye-election: PDP clears six aspirants, holds primaries Sept 5

File Photo The Peoples Democratic Party has fixed September 5 for its primary elections for the Lagos East Senatorial district and Kosofe Constituency II House of Assembly. The spokesperson for the party in Lagos, Mr Taofik Gani, made this known in a statement on Wednesday. Gani said all the necessary logistics had been put in place by the party to ensure a hitch-free exercise. He explained that the party had cleared four aspirants to contest for the party’s ticket in a primary election for the Lagos East Senatorial district and two aspirants for the Kosofe II House of Assembly in Lagos. Military airstrike hits ISWAP location, eliminates scores of terrorists in Borno

The Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole has destroyed compounds, housing Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists at Kaza on the Gulumba Gana – Kumshe axis of Borno. The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, said that scores of terrorists were killed in the attack. Enenche said the air raid was in continuation of the sustained offensive against insurgents in the North East. Ride-hailing service, Bolt has announced that it is expanding into Kenya with a new offering – Bolt Lite. This new service aims to make rides more affordable to users in Nakuru and Kisumu. LASEMA: Two died, six injured in a four vehicles accident

Two persons died on the spot while four others were seriously injured in an accident along Anthony-inward-Gbagada on Tuesday night in Lagos. The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed this to newsmen on Wednesday. Oke-Osanyintolu said LASEMA received distress calls on the accident, around 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday. He added that four vehicles were involved in the accident, comprising two tipper-lorries, one petroleum tanker and one commercial bus. The police in Lagos State have arrested some domestic staff at the Ikeja home of the former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party during the 1993 presidential election, Late Bashorun MKO Abiola in connection with a burglary incident. Some yet to be identified burglars had reportedly invaded his house on Wednesday morning the late politician’s home, where they carted away yet to be quantified things.
