This year’s Democratic National Convention turned into a star-studded virtual event thanks to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, unintentionally helping it draw more viewers than the 2016 DNC. The four-night ceremony saw everyone from Billie Eilish to John Legend perform, with The Chicks stepping onstage to kick off the final night’s festivities on Thursday evening. The trio of Natalie Maines, Martie Erwin Maguire, and Emily Strayer appeared remotely to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner”. The Chicks have long been politically outspoken musicians. Ever since their hey-day when they denounced President George W. Bush for invading Iraq and kicking of a never-ending war, the country trio have tried to use their platform for good — even going so far as to retire their Dixie Chicks moniker earl...

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Skewers Trump During Democratic National Convention: Watch

During a presidential campaign, the vice presidential nominee typically serves as the attack dog. Former Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus certainly played that role during the final night of the Democratic National Convention. While serving as the evening’s host, Louis-Dreyfus repeatedly ripped Donald Trump with stinging one-liners. “Joe Biden goes to church so regularly that he doesn’t even need tear gas and a bunch of federalized troops to get there,” Louis-Dreyfus remarked at one point. Later, she proclaimed, “If we all vote there is nothing Facebook, Fox News or Vladimir Putin can do to stop us.” While recounting the time Biden reached out after reading an article about her in the Amtrak magazine Arrive, Louis-Dreyfus quipped, “Joe Biden not only knows how to read, but also, he reads ever...

Tens of thousands of demonstrators draped in the red-and-white flags of the opposition flooded Independence Square and marched through the capital chanting “freedom” and “we will not forget, we will not forgive” as passing cars honked in support. “We have just two demands: fair elections and stop the violence,” 32-year-old Igor told AFP. UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has stated his belief that the current one-legged knock-out format of the Champions League’s quarterfinals and semi-finals should be considered as a full-time fixture in the competition as it is, in his opinion, “more interesting”. The one-off format, put together in order to finish up the season in a timely manner following the coronavirus-enforced suspension of sport around the world, has produced several upsets already, most notably Manchester City and Atletico Madrid being dumped out by Lyon and RB Leipzig respectively.
