Following rumors of the upcoming R36, British automotive YouTube channel CarWow put together a head-to-head between the existing generations of the Nissan GT-R. From R32 to R35, the drag race between generations aims to highlight the technological advancements seen in each car. For the R32, R33 and R34, they are all powered by the famed RB26DETT, 2.6-liter twin-turbo straight-six engines, which push out 280 horsepower. While the R35 NISMO features a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 packing 600 horsepower and 650Nm of torque. According to a report from electrek, Tesla has submitted documents to the City of Los Angeles for a 24-hour diner situated on 7001 W. Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood, California. Elon Musk first teased the idea of installing an “old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant” at one of Tesla’s Supercharger stations back in 2018, and later confirmed plans for a “futuristic diner/drive-in theater” in February of this year. New sketches have now surfaced revealing the venue’s potential design and features. Pagani’s latest one-off hypercar is making its first public appearance at the Motor Valley Fest 2022 this weekend in Italy. The Pagani Huayra NC is a private commission created in collaboration between a client and Pagani Special Projects division and is on display at the 4th edition of the open-air celebration of Italy’s supercar prowess in Moderna’s Piazza Mazzini. Delivering 830 HP and 1080 NM of torque to the wheels via a twin-turbo Mercedes AMG-sourced 6.0l V12 engine and seven-speed sequential transmission, the Hauyra NC weighs just 2,733 lbs. Volkswagen revealed two exciting vehicles at this year’s Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California. Taking place from May 26 to 29, the cars were displayed at the convention’s premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi, where its star Ewan McGregor was in attendance. The showcars are entitled D. Buzz ‘Light Side Edition’ and ID. Buzz ‘Dark Side Edition,’ with skins designed to embody the characters of Kenobi and Darth Vader. Designers from Lucasfilm and Volkwagen worked collaboratively on the project. The ‘Light Side Edition’ takes its color from Kenobi’s iconic tunic. A blue line on the side resembles his lightsaber, while the chrome upper section makes reference to spaceships. Maserati has just unveiled its convertible version of the MC20 supercar — the MC20 Cielo. Weighing just 143 pounds more than its coupe counterpart, the Cielo makes up for the weight with an electrochromic (smart glass) roof that drops down in just 12 seconds. When the roof is up, the owner can change the roof from opaque to clear and back with Polymer-Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) technology. In celebration of the 90th anniversary of the famous Hockenheimring racetrack in Germany, Porsche had debuted its special edition Taycan GTS. The Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition maintains the Taycan GTS’s original 590 horsepower and can still hit 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds with a batter power of 93.4 kwh capacity. This year marks 50 years of the BMW Motorsport subsidiary. To commemorate the anniversary, the German car manufacturer revisits its original emblem as well as premiering its latest We Are M short film. All models with a production date from March 2022 will feature the classic BMW Motorsport logo, boasting shifted semicircles that made its debut appearance in 1973. As well as emblems, 50 M paint finishes will be offered on selected cars such as “Dakar Yellow”, “Fire Orange”, “Daytona Violet”, “Macao Blue”, “Imola Red” and “Frozen Marina Bay Blue” which all represent various eras of the brand’s history. Ushering in two decades since the R32, Volkswagen has unveiled the Golf R “20 Years” edition, the first Golf vehicle to boast the “R” racing badge. Packed with R-style equipment, the car comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 328 hp (245 kW), a jump compared to the output of the standard Golf. The engine, which drives all four wheels, has been revamped with turbocharger preloading, enabling the power to develop faster when accelerating. According to Volkswagen, this special model sprints from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 kph) in only 4.6 seconds. Bombardier has just unveiled its newest flagship private business jet. The Global 8000 is Bombardier’s fastest and smoothest jet with the longest range in its class. Able to travel at speeds of Mach 0.94, the jet has a range of 8,000 nautical miles and is equipped with Smooth Flĕx Wing technology, Bombardier Pũr Air HEPA filter technology, a Soleil circadian lighting system, and Nuage seating with zero-gravity positioning. Nissan has revealed a new addition to its all-electric vehicle lineup in Japan, a minivehicle called the Sakura. Slated to hit the country’s consumer market this summer, Nissan intends for the car to offer those interested in purchasing electric vehicles a more affordable option, with the Grade S model of the vehicle starting at ¥2,333,100 JPY (approximately $18,264 USD). “The all-new Sakura follows the LEAF and Ariya as a mass-market EV,” Nissan Executive Vice President Asako Hoshino said. “We believe it will be a gamechanger for the Japanese market and will make EVs much more accessible to customers in Japan.” Deriving its name from the Japanese cherry blossom, the mini EV boasts an excellent driving range with a turning radius of 4.8 meters.
