For almost a year, Japanese YouTuber Ayato has been working on making his very own Kaneda Bike from Akira. Ambitiously bringing the iconic motorcycle from Neo-Tokyo to life, Ayato has been documenting the transformation of his Yamaha Majesty 250 bike. Starting off by stripping the bike down to its essential elements for a concise base, Ayato outlined what elements he intends to remain faithful to while noting that he will be using a bucket seat for added safety and comfort. The body of the bike was first made out of cardboard and replicated in fiberglass reinforced plastic. It is interesting to note that the bike’s signature converting handlebars will also be part of the build. The bike is currently unfinished, but head over to Ayato’s YouTube channel to catch the Kaneda Bike f...
Toyota just revealed its latest creation: the “hardcore” GR Corolla, under the Gazoo Racing division of race-bred street tuning of Toyota’s vehicles. After the official unveiling, HYPEBEAST was invited for a private session with the GR Corolla, and the details become more and more impressive up close. The GR Corolla was announced with two variations: the Core GR Corolla as well as a Circuit Edition which, for all intents and purposes, stands as a “Launch” model that’s meant to entice and draw in the true enthusiasts who’ll wait and want the very best offering. Toyota’s preview of the Circuit Edition showed off specific enhancements over the Core, some more subtle than others. At the end of the day, the Circuit is the one to get. First off, th...
Toyota GAZOO Racing has finally unveiled the highly anticipated GR Corolla. Bigger and more powerful than the GR Yaris, the new rally-inspired model carries a turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine under its hood that’s capable of pushing out 300 horsepower at 6,500 rpm via a six-speed manual transmission through all four wheels. The 4WD system itself can be calibrated to give you more control of the vehicle allowing you to choose from 50-50 front and rear, 60 front and 40 rear, or a more radical 30 front and 70 rear. Both axles feature open differentials on the base model, but you can upgrade to a limited-slip differential with the Performance Package or have it standard in the Circuit Edition. Powertrain aside, the suspension system comes in the form of MacPherson struts for ...
The classic Range Rover — both in two-door “Velar” form or the more familiar four-door body — is a fan favorite for its age-defying looks and always-tasteful attitude, but for some the standard car just wasn’t enough when it was first released in 1970. Back in 1976, the British tuner Carmichael took the four-door Range Rover and turned it into a six-wheeler, typically made for firefighters before being made more commercially. Despite this, only 400 were ever made, and now one has been put to auction with Aguttes. Of the 400 built, only a handful was actually made for private use — such as the fine example you see above. It was extended at the rear and completely re-built at the back end to incorporate another set of wheel arches, seamlessly blending into...
Collecting Cars has just listed an interesting take on the Ferrari 348 TS. Not for the purist, this 1990 Ferrari 348 TS has been modified by Munich-based tuning house Koenig Specials for the creation of the Koenig Specials F48. This is just one of two right-hand drive F48s documented and sees an aggressive F40-esque body kit and substantial powertrain upgrade. The power upgrade is largely thanks to a pair of Garrett T3 turbochargers joined to the 3.4-liter V8 to produce 520bhp up from its stock 320bhp. This supercar was imported to the U.K in 1994 by its first owner Douglas Hall, who at the time was the deputy chairman of the Newcastle United Football Club. The Koenig Specials F48 can be found over at Collecting Cars where the current highest bid is £65,50 GBP (approximately $86,000 USD). ...
The Ferrari LaFerrari was instrumental in the Italian marque’s recent popularity boom as the car paved the way for new tech to be integrated into its more “accessible” supercars, and subsequently, the LaFerrari now stands as one of the brand’s most coveted halo cars ever made. But what if you could get hold of a piece of its history, such as a prototype test mule? You’re in luck, as RM Sotheby’s has listed a 2012 Ferrari LaFerrari Prototype based on the 458 Italia. What you see above started life as a 458, but the changes to the car are almost unfathomable. Sitting behind the rear seats is the LaFerrari’s hybrid powertrain, but it’s not the final version of this engine — instead, it features the V12 Type F140FB unit instead of the produ...
Only 547 Buick GNXs were ever made, and now a pristine 1987 example with just 865 miles has landed on Bring a Trailer. It’s one of the most recognizable American muscle cars of all time, standing against other U.S. giants such as the Mustang as a formidable machine. Naturally, the car comes in black — marking this as the Grand National Experimental that was developed in association with McLaren Performance Technologies/ASC to celebrate the end of the vehicle’s production run. Heat-extracting fender vents, composite wheel arch flares, a three-piece rear spoiler, and GNX badging all add to the car’s specific design treatment that makes this stand out as the GNX, while 16″ cross-lace rims further accentuate this car’s provenance. Under the hood is a modified 3.8-...
For its first foray into electric cars, British luxury automaker Lotus introduces a striking all-electric Hyper-SUV named the “Eletre.” The 4WD Eletre is powered by a 100kWh battery equipped with fast-charging capabilities that deliver 248 miles of range in just 20 minutes. The car’s max WLTP range is reported at 373 miles, similar to that of the Tesla Model X Long Range, and motors generate 600hp, propelling the car to top speeds of 161 mph and recording zero to 60 mph times of less than three seconds. “The Eletre is a bold and revolutionary new car, delivering on our commitment to move Lotus into completely new automotive segments as we widen our global appeal and accessibility,” Matt Windle, Managing Director, Lotus Cars, commented. “This is a momentous poi...
The Lamborghini Urus has become a symbol of showboating among the car community — if you want an SUV larger and louder than life, this is the one. For Platinum Motorsport this wasn’t enough, so the L.A-based auto shop has decked its matte gray iteration in a host of modified parts to truly stand out. Starting with the unavoidable, the Urus now wears a 1016 Industries wide body kit that’s been wrapped. From there, the SUV is slammed low, accentuating the width of the car further. 24-inch Forgiato rims only add to the menacing stance, while a CAPRISTO exhaust system that pokes out underneath the rear carbon fiber diffuser rounds out the list of upgrades, but should make the car noticeable from a few miles away. MANHART is best known for modifying fast German cars such as the BMW M5, Porsche 911 Turbo S, and the new Mercedes-AMG SL, but sometimes it also turns its hand to something a bit more familiar such as the BMW M135i xDrive. While by no means slow, it’s a switch up from its usual roster of tuned cars, taking on one of the most formidable hot hatches money can buy today. Dubbed the MANHART MH1 350, the M135i finds its two-liter twin-turbocharged four-pot engine get a boost from 306 HP and 450 Nm of torque to 350 HP and 524 Nm, resulting in enough torque to make the car pull from all speeds. The result sees its 4.8 seconds 0-62 MPH time come down to the low four-second mark, while visceral elements such as sound and handling are also enhanced. This comes courtesy of four matt black 90-mi...
Ferrari F50s rarely come up for sale, let alone one that’s been converted by Pininfarina to be a one-of-eight official right-hand-drive iteration, served up in the desirable colorway of “Rosso Corsa” over “Black” leather. But alas, RM Sotheby’s proves to be one of the best in the game as it has listed this exact car for sale. In recent times, Mike Tyson’s F50 was put up for sale, as was a one-of-four “Nero” iteration. Both accumulated sales upwards of $2M USD — and that was back in 2017 and 2016, respectively. This particular example up for sale through RM Sotheby’s private sales team is incredibly clean, reading 21,294 miles on the odometer and standing as the 298th of only 349 numbered F50 examples made between 1995 and 19...
Following on from its real-life BMW M135i xDrive build, the tuning company MANHART has now teased its take on the upcoming Range Rover. As of writing, the new Range Rover isn’t officially available — it is, however, expected to launch sometime later this year in various guises, ahead of 2024’s all-electric version. Regardless, MANHART has revealed its Range Rover Vogue RV 650, designed exclusively for the Middle Eastern market. Based on the flagship SV model — which will launch with a choice of either a 530 PS twin-turbo V8 or a 510 PS plug-in hybrid engine — MANHART tunes this to deliver 650 HP, which is more than any current Jaguar-Land Rover offering. Black adorns the exterior alongside a gold-toned trim decorating the grille surround, lower grille housing,...
