Columbia Hike Society Wants to Make Hiking a Year-Round Pursuit

As communities around the world slow down for Ramadan, Columbia Hike Society is speeding up with its latest activation, “Light Your Path.”

In collaboration with RAK tourism, the brand’s recent community event brought together avid hikers and partner athletes for a unique trail run across the UAE’s highest mountain Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah. Held on the first weekend of Ramadan, it marked the first time an event of this kind has been hosted in the region, turning sundown celebrations into a peaceful moment of reconnecting with nature.

Helping to illuminate the way, Columbia Hike Society installed solar-powered lights across several paths to make hiking more accessible in the low-light season. In addition to this, attendees were equipped with the sportswear brand’s signature Tellurix Titanium Outdry shoes and Omni-Heat jacket for extra protection against the elements, reaffirming how the sport can be enjoyed all-year round, not just a summer activity.

Coming off the success of the initial event, the platform now looks ahead to hosting more nighttime hikes in the region. It also hopes local hikers will make use of the permanently installed infrastructure for their own escapes in the mountains.
