Doechii Delivers Dynamic Self-Choreographed Performance on ‘Colbert’

Doechii Delivers Dynamic Self-Choreographed Performance on 'Colbert'

Doechii isn’t done with her breakout year quite yet. After closing out her Alligator Bites Never Heal Tour in support of the acclaimed album – and landing a handful of Grammy noms – Top Dawg Entertainment‘s Swamp Princess showed out on Stephen Colbert‘s The Late Show to deliver her first-ever self-choreographed performance of two of the album’s standout singles.

The Don performed a medley of “BOILED PEANUTS” and “DENIAL IS A RIVER” kicking off her set with the bouncy former before implementing the witty latter into the seamless mix. She took the stage alongside two other dancers, both of which who donned matching outfits and were connected to Doechii by way of connected hair braids.

“I felt heavily inspired by the lineage of Hip Hop and how it contributes to who I am today,” she wrote in a post on X.

“This is my first self-choreographed performance and one of the most important things I wanted to highlight was my connection to black women through Hip Hop. With the help of hair artist Malcom Marquez, we were able to make this symbolic art performance come to life in just a short week.”
