Elon Musk Says the Cybertruck’s Huge Windshield Wiper Troubles Him the Most

Elon Musk Says the Cybertruck’s Huge Windshield Wiper Troubles Him the Most

After a video surfaced showing the Tesla Cybertruck in action at the company’s Fremont Test Track in Northern California, CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter to address the car’s huge single windshield wiper.

The video, shot by drone, shows several adjustments made to the vehicle, including the addition of side mirrors and a massive verticle windshield wiper. Musk confirmed the veracity of the video, calling it “CGI IRL.”

User Jack Farrington called the windshield wiper “comically large” and asked Musk if it was the final design. He also asserted that the side mirrors “will have to go.”

“Manufacturers have to ship cars with side mirrors by law, but owners are allowed to modify their cars,” Musk responded.

The tech billionaire also expressed distaste for the windshield wiper.

“The wiper is what troubles me most,” he wrote. “No easy solution. Deployable wiper that stows in front trunk would be ideal, but complex.”

The highly-anticipated Cybertruck is designed to offer “better utility than a truck with more performance than a sports car.” The company says that the car’s exterior shell is “nearly impenetrable” to prevent dents, damage and long-term corrosion, while the windows are made from ultra-strong glass and polymer-layered composite.

The truck was scheduled for release in late 2021 but has since been pushed to late 2022. You can register to preorder the CyberTruck online for $100 USD, and the vehicle will start at $39,900 USD.

In other news, a $50 USD Cyberwhistle was being offered up earlier this month.
