Bon Jovi abruptly ended their concert after 14 songs on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, the eighth show of a nine-date residency at the famed New York City arena. Frontman Jon Bon Jovi called an end to the evening after struggling with his vocals due to a sinus infection.
The band had been playing between 20 and 23 songs at each show of the residency, but this time around, Jon Bon Jovi performed the classic “Livin’ on a Prayer” earlier than usual, bringing Train singer Pat Monahan onstage to sing the song with him.
Before and after the song, Jon addressed the audience, according to Page Six, telling the crowd, “I’m sorry, I’m hurt and you’re not getting the best of me… Don’t throw away your ticket stubs, I’m gonna figure something out, OK? Just hold onto it, we’ll figure out how to reschedule. But I’m gonna have to cool it for the night. I feel great. I’ll see you again soon.” He then walked off the stage.

Later on, Bon Jovi’s reps issued a statement, “The Bon Jovi concert at Madison Square Garden ended after 90 mins tonight. Jon Bon Jovi spoke from stage and told fans he has been battling a sinus infection which led to the show’s early ending. As part of the Bon Jovi residency at Madison Square Garden, Jon has said numerous times that it has been a joy to return to live shows for the band. Updated information will be available shortly.”
Jon Bon Jovi is making a comeback after serious vocal surgery sidelined him for a few years. While his voice isn’t what it once was, he’s been making a valiant effort during the MSG residency, as Consequence witnessed during the kickoff show on July 7th.
As of now, Bon Jovi’s Madison Square Garden residency is scheduled to end its run with its ninth and final show on Sunday, July 26th (tickets available here).
