Live Out Your ’80s Fantasy With This Ferrari 512 BBI “Koenig Specials”

Live Out Your ’80s Fantasy With This Ferrari 512 BBI “Koenig Specials”

If you want to serve Miami Vice, Magnum PI, or Jordan Belfort’s Wolf of Wall Street energy, you’re going to need a Ferrari from the ’80s. Luckily, Classic Driver has one very special example currently for sale in the form of this 1981 Ferrari 512 BBI “Koenig Specials.”

As the name implies, this is no standard 512 BBI. Instead, Willy König and his team took the already impressive Italian supercar and gave it the “Koenig Specials” flair, and today this eighties-tastic machine stands as one highly-coveted car. Served up in the marque’s signature shade of “Rosso Corsa” over a period-correct beige leather interior, the Ferrari is said to be one of around 50 examples and features plenty of modifications.

Starting with the engine, power sees an increase from 340 HP to 450 HP, but now the car produces 650 HP thanks to the addition of a twin-turbocharger set. This equates to a 0-62 MPH time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 205 MPH, making it quicker than the manufacturer’s halo car, the F40.

Elsewhere, a polyester body kit consisting of a new front bumper incorporating brake cooling ducts, a rear spoiler, body side skirts, smaller rearview mirrors and roof-mounted intakes for the turbochargers were added, as were stiffer road springs and shock absorbers.

Today, the 1981 Ferrari 512 BBI “Koenig Specials” appears on Classic Driver for $311,550 USD. Take a closer look at the car above and find out more online.
