Official 'Her Private Hell' Trailer Unleashes a Neon-Soaked Sci-Fi Slasher Nightmare

NEON’s ‘Her Private Hell’ is the highly anticipated sci-fi horror feature from visionary director Nicolas Winding Refn

The film follows an atmospheric, hyper-stylized narrative dealing with a deadly entity in a futuristic metropolis

The ensemble cast features rising genre stars including Sophie Thatcher, Charles Melton, Kristine Froseth, and Havana Rose Liu

NEON has officially unveiled the dazzling, blood-splattered new trailer for Her Private Hell, marking a bold return to the silver screen for visionary Danish auteur Nicolas Winding Refn. Described by industry insiders as a dreamlike fusion of Blade Runner and Friday the 13th, the upcoming feature re-establishes Refn’s signature style—drenching a high-concept sci-fi metropolis in pulse-pounding synth music, unfiltered violence, and gorgeous, neon-lit cinematography.

Co-written by Refn and screenwriter Esti Giordani, Her Private Hell leans heavily into provocative, old-school exploitation and giallo slasher influences. The complex narrative unravels in a dystopian, futuristic metropolis that has been completely engulfed by a mysterious, toxic mist. As a deadly and highly elusive entity begins stalking the city, a troubled young woman (played by Yellowjackets and Companion breakout Sophie Thatcher) embarks on a desperate search for her missing father. Her trajectory violently collides with a rugged American GI (played by Charles Melton), who is locked in his own harrowing, high-stakes odyssey to rescue his daughter from a literal and metaphorical hell.

Adding another layer to the chaotic, multi-tiered storyline, secondary plotlines track an elite group of actresses who have gathered at a lavish, ultra-exclusive hotel to shoot an avant-garde, Barbarella-esque space epic. Their production is throw into absolute terror when a heinous serial killer known simply as the “Leather Man” begins picking off women across the city. According to Refn, the film’s conceptual energy is driven purely by “glitter, sex, and violence,” relying on raw, instinctive storytelling choices over conventional Hollywood structures.

The project’s elite casting roster cements its position as one of the summer’s definitive genre attractions. Anchored by Thatcher and Melton, the film features standout performances from Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms), Kristine Froseth (The First Lady), Diego Calva (Babylon), Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool & Wolverine), and Japanese cinema icon Hidetoshi Nishijima (Drive My Car). Given the film’s uncompromised vision, the MPA has officially stamped the theatrical cut with a hard R-rating, citing instances of strong, bloody violence, language, and explicit sexual content.

The provocative thriller is officially scheduled for a nationwide theatrical rollout on July 24, 2026.
