Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan on Forging Ahead After the Passing of Andy Fletcher

Depeche Mode experienced the tragic passing of founding member Andy Fletcher in May of this year. On Tuesday (October 4th), the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band announced that it will soldier on with a new album and tour in 2023. The new LP is titled Memento Mori, a Latin term used to describe an object that serves as a reminder of death. Despite the timing of the announcement, the name of the album and its subject matter had already been conceived prior to Fletcher’s passing. In support of the album, which is set to arrive in Spring 2023, Depeche Mode will embark on their first tour in five years, beginning with a North American leg that kicks off March 23rd in Sacramento, California. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, October 7th at 10:00 a.m. local time via Tick...

Jamila Woods Sets Her “Boundaries” on New Song: Stream

Chicago poet and singer Jamila Woods is back with “Boundaries,” her first new solo music since 2020. The follow-up to “Sula (Paperback)” was produced by BLVK and recorded at LA’s Complex Studios. On the track, Woods addresses the complexities of navigating the early stages of romance, floating over the beat with lyrics like, “If I let you come inside/ You’ll track in all the mud I’m bound to see/ It’s safer on the outside/ I’d hate to find a reason I should leave.” In a statement, Woods explained the inspiration for the track. “‘Boundaries’ is a song about the negotiation between private and shared space in a new relationship, the risk involved in letting someone get close enough to see your rough edges,” she explained. “I think a lot about the Prentice Hemphill quote, ‘Boundaries are...

Joker and Captain America 4 Writers to Pen Spawn Reboot

Spawn finally appears to be nearing his long-awaited big screen resurrection from Blumhouse Productions. The Jamie Foxx-led film reboot for the Image Comics antihero has shown new signs of life with the announcement by creator Todd McFarlane that the script will now be penned by a trio of new writers: Scott Silver (Joker), Malcolm Spellman (Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Captain America: New World Order), and Matthew Mixon. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, McFarlane acknowledged he might not be the right person to direct the movie given the stakes involved. “If we’ve got an A-list actor, A-list producers, A-list writers, then do you want to shoot for A-list directors, A-list cinematographers?” he said. “The answer is, ‘of course.’ Let’s keep the momentum going.” McFar...

Ozzy Osbourne has teamed with Rock and Roll Beauty to launch his own collection of beauty products. Some of the items in the new line include: 14-pan eye shadow palettes (one shaped like a coffin and another like a bat), candles, Ozzy-styled body tattoos, lipsticks, a cosmetic bag, a gothic mirror, and nail stickers. Most notably, he released a new studio album, Patient Number 9, which notched the Ozzman his first No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Album Sales chart. Once again produced by Andrew Watt, the record features an all-star cast of guest talent, including t...

Reginald the Vampire Is Here for a Good Time: Review

The Pitch: Lonely, unfulfilled, and too insecure to tell his cute Slushie Shack co-worker, Sarah (Em Haine) that he’s into her, Reginald Andres (Jacob Batalon) is coasting through his twenties terminally disappointed with where his life has taken him. But while taking out the Slushie Shack trash at the end of one particularly long shift, Reginald stumbles into a hypnotic new friendship with a smooth operator named Maurice (Mandela Van Peebles), and everything changes. Overnight, and at the most inconvenient moment imaginable, Reginald finds he’s been turned into a member of the undead. This proves to be problematic for more reasons than just can’t go out in the sun, have to drink blood to survive — in Reginald the Vampire’s world, creatures of the night are vain, status-obsessed perfection...

NNAMDÏ’s Not Weird — He’s Wonderfully, Amazingly, Authentically Himself

On Friday (October 7th), pop experimentalist extraordinaire NNAMDÏ will unleash his newest album, Please Have A Seat. The record, his debut for Secretly Canadian, features some of his poppiest, most ear-worm tunes to date while remaining within the weird, outsider approach NNAMDÏ has become known for. But, is it really that weird? For years NNAMDÏ himself would say so, prefacing his music with a quick “it’s kind of weird” whenever sharing it. He even named his 2014 release Feckin Weirdo, and the branding stuck. The word would pop up in interviews and reviews, following the Chicago artist as he continued to make art that was true to himself. “It was kind of like, not a palate cleanser, but something preemptively being like, ‘Okay, it’s weird,’” he tells Consequence. “Just so they go in and ...

We can expect to see a lot of red, and not just in ...

Charlie Cox’s “Ass Remains Un-Whooped” When Daredevil Meets She-Hulk in Preview Clip: Watch

Charlie Cox may have appeared in Spier-Man: No Way Home as Matt Murdock, but his alter-ego Daredevil will finally make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in a new episode of She-Hulk airing Thursday, October 6th on Disney+. A new preview clip is out now, and finds Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) facing off against The Man Without Fear in a high-stakes rooftop brawl. The clip opens with Daredevil clinging to the top of a Hulk-green convertible, before the Hulk herself stops the car and sends him flying. “You’re making a mistake,” he says. “You made a mistake when you messed with my client, ’cause now I’m going to whoop your ass,” she responds, striking the roof of the parking complex and opening up a rift that threatens to swallow him whole. He nimbly leaps to t...

Fan Chant: The Perfect Fall Playlist, A Teaser for Minho of SHINee’s New K-Drama, and More

Welcome to Fan Chant, a weekly column for K-pop fans, stans, and newbies alike. Each week, I’ll be rolling out interviews, lists, and all kinds of content to keep you in the loop on the latest and greatest from our friends in Seoul and beyond. Also, make sure to subscribe to my companion newsletter! Friends, autumn is officially upon us. I know it’s been appropriately gloomy in NYC and dreamy as ever in Los Angeles, but here in Nashville (America’s former “It” city, if you will), I’m happy to say that we do get a truly lovely fall season. I have so many K-pop songs I tend to associate with summer — TWICE’s “Alcohol-Free” and ATEEZ’s “Wave,” for example — but it’s time for a shakeup on the local Spotify. Taylor Swift’s folklore and evermore are honestly the heaviest in my personal rotation ...

Christian Bale on Leonardo DiCaprio: “Any Role That Anybody Gets, It’s Only Because He’s Passed on It Beforehand”

Christian Bale is an Academy Award-winning actor (who’s even played Batman, lest we forget), but according to him, Leonardo DiCaprio is a bigger deal. Bale recalled losing several roles to DiCaprio in a recent interview with GQ, even thanking him for passing on the roles he has secured. “Look, to this day, any role that anybody gets, it’s only because he’s passed on it beforehand,” Bale said. “It doesn’t matter what anyone tells you. It doesn’t matter how friendly you are with the directors. All those people that I’ve worked with multiple times, they all offered every one of those roles to him first. Right? I had one of those people actually tell me that. So, thank you, Leo, because literally, he gets to choose everything he does. And good for him, he’s phenomenal.” Bale eve...

New Zealand Band Crooked Royals Premiere New Song “Counterfeit”: Stream

New Zealand-based band Crooked Royals are premiering their new song “Counterfeit” exclusively via Heavy Consequence. The track arrives ahead of the group’s debut album, Quarter Life Daydream, out October 21st via Periphery’s 3DOT Recordings. The band notably features two vocalists — Christian Carstensen on clean parts and Lee Mackley on gutturals — who trade off to create a push-and-pull effect. It works splendidly on “Counterfeit,” evoking hints of Linkin Park, albeit with a more metalcore edge. Tapped guitars and tightly pocketed rhythms guide the track through its near-three-minute duration. “‘Counterfeit’ is about the duality of perception,” remarked Crooked Royals in a collective statement. “The song is an argument with yourself about why we do things, observing other people’s motives...
