Bruce Springsteen Announces New Album Only the Strong Survive
Bruce Springsteen will return on November 11th with a new album of classic soul and R&B covers. Entitled Only the Strong Survive, the album sees Springsteen put hit own spin on songs by Diana Ross and the Supremes (“Someday We’ll Be Together”), The Commodores (“Night Shift”), and Aretha Franklin (“Don’t Play That Song”). The 15-song tracklist also boasts covers of The Temptations (“I Wish It Would Rain”), The Four Tops (“When She Was My Girl”), The Walker Brothers (“The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore), Jerry Butler (“Western Union Man”), and Jimmy Ruffin (“What Becomes of the Brokenhearted.”) The album takes its name from Jerry Buttler’s 1968 song “Only The Strong Survive,” which leads off the tracklist. Paramore Announce New Album This Is Why, Share Title Track: Stream
Paramore have made their return official with the announcement of their new album, This Is Why. It’s out February 10th, 2023 via Atlantic Records and is previewed by the title track, which you can hear today. The 10-track follow-up to 2017’s After Laughter was recorded in Los Angeles with longtime collaborator Carlos de la Garza and features cover art shot by Zachary Gray. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit Announce US Tour Dates for 2023
Jason Isbell is hitting the road next year. After having to cancel a few dates earlier this year due to COVID-19, the musician has announced a short run of US tour dates for 2023 with his band The 400 Unit. The 12-date leg begins January 19th in Orlando, Florida before hitting oft-overlooked cities like Mobile, Alabama; Saginaw, Michigan; and Greensboro, North Carolina, before wrapping things up in Ashland, Kentucky on February 3rd. Nashville-via-Côte d’Ivoire musician Peter One — best known as one-half of the country-folk duo Jess Sah Bi & Peter One — will support Isbell on all the 2023 tour dates. Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial is set to premiere on the free, ad-supported streaming platform Tubi (you know, home of the Gumbyverse) on September 30th. Coolio Found Dead at Age 59
Coolio, the rapper best known for his chart-topping single “Gangsta’s Paradise,” has died at the age of 59, according to TMZ. Citing the rapper’s longtime manager, TMZ reports that Coolio died from cardiac arrest on Wednesday. At the time of his death, he was at a friend’s house, his manager said. After the rapper went to the bathroom and never returned, his body was found laying on the floor. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
