Heart’s Nancy Wilson Shares Taylor Hawkins Tribute “Amigo Amiga”: Exclusive

Heart founding member Nancy Wilson has today released “Amigo Amiga,” a tribute to late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins ahead of the Los Angeles Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert. Wilson began penning the powerful, heartfelt homage the night of Hawkins’ passing, with the song’s title stemming from nicknames the two gave each other. “I heard myself in tears saying ‘too soon too soon’ which became a refrain in the song,” Wilson tells Consequence. “I spent quite a few sleepless nights trying to express it all. He was a wonderful friend and we always had funny pet names for each other like ‘Amigo’ and ‘Amiga’ as well as ‘Luv’ and ‘Dahling.’” As melancholic as the piano and acoustic guitar are, “Amigo Amiga” is uplifting in nature, with its verses remembering the traits that defined Hawkin...

Tom Brady is currently the oldest NFL quarterback to start a game at 45 years old, and NBC’s Sunday Night Football chose to celebrate him by using Beck’s cover of Neil Young’s “Old Man” in a commercial for next week’s matchup between Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs. The song choice is a bit on the nose, but it works. “Old man, look at my life/ 24, and there’s so much more,” Beck sings, as highlights of Brady’s legendary career are juxtaposed with the 27-year-old’s Mahomes’ accomplishments. Both quarterbacks won Super Bowls at the age of 24. Toward the end of the commercial, Mahomes walks up to Brady after the Buccaneers’ 31-9 win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV, which brought Brady’s record to 3-2 in their head-to-head match-ups. “Hey, you’re a ...

Roger Waters Pens Open Letter to Putin As His Concerts in Poland Are Canceled

Aspirational expert in foreign affairs Roger Waters has written an open letter to Vladimir Putin in light of Russia’s war on Ukraine. But rather than asking the Russian president to withdraw, the former Pink Floyd member has instead asked Putin to promise that he won’t “overrun the whole of Europe.” “Firstly, would you like to see an end to this war?,” Waters wrote to Putin on Facebook. “If you were to reply and say, ‘Yes please.’ That would immediately make things a lot easier. If you were to come out and say, ‘Also the Russian Federation has no further territorial interest beyond the security of the Russian speaking populations of The Crimea, Donetsk and Lubansk.’ That would help too. I say this because, I know some people who think you want to overrun the whole of Europe, starting with ...
