NOFX to Break Up in 2023

Fat Mike has announced that NOFX will break up in 2023. In the comments of an August 31st Instagram post, the singer and bassist said “next year will be our last year.” While NOFX have yet to produce an official breakup announcement, Fat Mike (born Michael Burkett) felt confident enough in their plans that he essentially revealed the news unprompted. A fan commented on an unrelated Instagram post about the hardcore band not coming to Canada enough while on tour, and Fat Mike responded, “Actually, We love Canada, it’s just that next year will be our last year. We will be announcing our final shows soon. It’s been an amazing run….” Once fans picked up on the news, another user asked if NOFX would play in Los Angeles before breaking up. To that comment, Fat Mike responded, “Los Angeles will b...

Florida Georgia Line Play Final Show Following Inner-Band Feud Over Trump

After announcing a hiatus earlier this year, country duo Florida Georgia Line played their last show together at the Minnesota State Fair on Thursday (August 31st). Tyler Hubbard confirmed he and Brian Kelley were “taking a break” in February, but breakup rumors have followed Florida Georgia Line since 2020, when the artists had a rather public disagreement regarding the election. While Hubbard had been a vocal critic of President Trump, and his wife, Hayley, posted her support of Vice President Kamala Harris, Kelley swung in the other direction, hinting at his support of the outgoing president. Eventually, Hubbard and his wife unfollowed Kelley on Instagram altogether, with Hubbard confirming that he simply didn’t want to see Kelley’s posts about Trump. “I unfollowed BK for a few days whi...

Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor Depart Saturday Night Live

Three more bite the dust at studio 8H: Saturday Night Live  cast members Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor — as well as featured player Aristotle Athari — won’t be returning for the show’s 48th season. As The Hollywood Reporter points out, Moffat, Villaseñor, and Athari follow Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, and Kyle Mooney, all of whom said their goodbyes during the season 47 finale back in May. Longtime producer Lindsay Shookus also departed in August. Moffat and Villaseñor joined SNL as featured performers in 2016 and were promoted to main cast members two years later. Moffat became known for impressions including Joe Biden, Eric Trump, and Beto O’Rourke, as well as original characters like Guy Who Just Bought a Boat on “Weekend Update.” Adverti...

The 1975’s Video for New Song “I’m in Love with You” Has Love, Clowns, Phoebe Bridgers: Stream

The 1975 have something important to tell you on their new song, “I’m in Love with You.” The track comes with a charming black-and-white music video featuring slapstick, dancing, and a surprise appearance by Phoebe Bridgers. “I’m in Love with You” is the latest preview of the band’s upcoming album Being Funny in a Foreign Language. It finds the rockers embracing their inner poptimists, with lead singer Matty Healy putting a bubblegum bounce into the refrain, “I’m in love with you/ I, I, I, I.” In the video, Healy plays a silent clown, in the tradition of Buster Keaton or Charlie Chaplin but with a lot more makeup. He searches for his painted love and their reunion is a kinesthetic wonder, as the choreographer smartly turns Healy’s back as his partner does all the work. Their...

Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Sebastian Stan, and Pete Davidson Cast in GameStop Short Squeeze Movie

Craig Gillespie has cast some very familiar faces in his next directing endeavor Dumb Money. Deadline reports that Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Sebastian Stan, and Pete Davidson are set to star in the forthcoming adaptation of Ben Mezrich’s book The Antisocial Network, which documents the 2021 GameStop short squeeze that shook Wall Street. As a refresher: Early last year, the hedge fund Melvin Capital used a tactic called “shorting,” borrowing GameStop shares they believed were overpriced and immediately selling them, hoping that their prices would later go down. Because Melvin didn’t own the shares, they would then buy them back and return them to the original lender, making a profit. Shorting can, of course, be a massive risk for the seller. In this case, the Reddit board r/wallstreetbets...

Why We Need a Fifth (and Final) Season of Westworld

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers through the Season 4 finale of Westworld, “Que Será, Será.”] The 2022 television landscape feels, sometimes, a little bit like the Wild West, as the chaos being experienced by the rest of the world trickles into the business decisions being made by men in Patagonia vests. This is why it’ll be exceptionally ironic if, after consistently keeping viewers on their toes for four seasons, Westworld never gets a chance to bring its cyberpunk Western story to its planned conclusion. The twisty mindfuck of a show, a riff on the 1973 Michael Crichton film created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, wrapped its fourth season this month by literally ending the world — or, at the very least, the end of humanity. Milli Vanilli Come to the Big Screen In First Look at Biopic Girl You Know It’s True

The curious case of Milli Vanilli is getting the biopic treatment. Today, LEONINE Studios has revealed the first look at Girl You Know It’s True, the forthcoming film about the infamous R&B duo. To get the youths caught up: Milli Vanilli, aka German dancers Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus, were one of the most popular groups of the late ’80s and early ’90s — that is, until it was discovered that they had been lip-synching the entire time. Named after the duo’s debut album, Girl You Know It’s True stars newcomers Tijan Njie from Germany and Elan Ben Ali from France as Morvan and Pilatus, while Matthias Schweighöfer will star as Frank Farian, Milli Vanilli’s producer who encouraged them to lip-synch. Simon Verhoeven will direct Girl You Know It’s True from his ow...

Alex Lahey Leaves Herself at the Altar in Video for “Congratulations”: Watch

Alex Lahey has unveiled her first single of 2022 with the semi-celebratory “Congratulations.” The song is accompanied by a music video written by Lahey that features the Australian singer-songwriter playing dual roles in a hysterical wedding farce. “Congratulations” finds Lahey grinning through the pain as she watches her exes find new partners in very quick succession. She expertly brushes off any signs of sour grapes with quips like, “So happy for your perfect life/ There’s something in my eye” despite the palpable emotional strain to get the words out. “Two of my exes got engaged within an improbably short space of time of one another,” Lahey revealed in a statement. “What are the odds? I couldn’t not write a song inspired by it.” Advertisement Related Video In the self-described “deepl...
