Behind the Boards with Butch Walker: Producer Talks Taylor Swift, Weezer, Green Day and More

Behind the Boards is a new series where we spotlight some of the biggest producers in the industry and dig into some of their favorite projects. For the inaugural edition, we sit down with alternative rock-whisperer Butch Walker to hear about his work with Taylor Swift, Weezer, Green Day, and more. Producer and singer-songwriter Butch Walker has been actively working in the music world for over three decades, and has seen firsthand the way the music industry has shifted across that time period. The Georgia-born Walker got his start in the late ’80s with a glam metal band called SouthGang — when that band dissolved, Walker formed the power pop trio Marvelous 3 in the mid ’90s before becoming an in-demand producer, helming pop rock records with SR-71, Bowling For Soup, and Avril Lavigne in t...

Every Wilco Album Ranked From Worst to Best

This article was originally published in 2019 and has been updated in celebration of Jeff Tweedy’s birthday on August 25th. Welcome to Dissected, where we disassemble a band’s catalog, a director’s filmography, or some other critical pop-culture collection in the abstract. It’s exact science by way of a few beers. This time, we sort through the best and worst of Chicago’s rock ‘n’ roll teddy bears. There’s nothing easy about Wilco. Their songs leave plenty for the listener to unpack and digest, from studiously arranged musical touches to frontman Jeff Tweedy’s sometimes sweet and earnest, other times gonzo lyrics. There’s work that goes into getting your head around Wilco, which probably explains why the Chicago band have become one of the most adored acts of their generation. But dissecti...

The new run follows up an early 2022 US tour that saw Ghost co-headlining with Volbeat, and playing their first shows since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the concert industry. Heavy Consequence caught up with Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge (aka Papa Emeritus IV) to discuss the band’s return to the road, their latest album, IMPERA (released in March of this year), and whether the wheels are alrea...

Tegan and Sara Share Lovelorn Ballad “Faded Like a Feeling”: Stream

Tegan and Sara are returning this fall with their 10th studio album Crybaby. To help tide you over until its October 21st release, the duo have shared another new single today called “Faded Like a Feeling” along with an accompanying music video. Especially by Tegan and Sara’s standards, “Faded Like a Feeling” is a delicate, somber ballad, driven by a spare acoustic guitar instrumental. It documents the natural ebbs and flows of relationships, and the mysterious occurrence of someone you once held dearly becoming a perfect stranger. “When we met I worried that/ You and me sparked too easy/ Did me in with your grief/ We grew into something heavy,” goes the first verse. “Little while, we lost touch/ I feel like a stranger/ I ran out on your love/ Hoping you don’t blame me.” Advertis...

The act debuted back in 2019 and has amassed a jewel box of a discography in the years since. CIX’s breakout track is considered to be “Cinema,” a glittering, dreamy pop offering with the most addictive earworm of a chorus. Almost exactly a year ago, in August of 2021, CIX released their debut album, OK Prologue: Be ...

Sylvester Stallone’s Wife Filed for Divorce Because He Wanted Another Dog: Report

Before you think about bringing another pet into the family despite your partner’s wishes, think again. Sylvester Stallone’s wife, model Jennifer Flavin, reportedly filed for divorce after the couple disagreed over whether or not to get a new dog. TMZ reports that Stallone wanted to adopt a Rottweiler to help protect their family, but Flavin wasn’t into the idea — spurring a heated argument earlier this summer that apparently brought up a number of other issues between the couple. Sources told TMZ “none of those issues appeared to be marriage-enders,” although we think the timing is a little too convenient. Regardless, Stallone persisted and adopted a Rottweiler anyway. The pup, Dwight, shares a first name with Stallone’s character on the upcoming Paramount+ crime drama series Tulsa King.&...
